🚨 | Christian Horner admits he put pressure on Michael Masi at Abu Dhabi 2021:
“I decided to apply some more pressure on race control. ‘Come on, Michael, we need to get this race going; why aren’t we getting these lapped cars out the way?’ I said.”
“‘It’ll be such a shame to end everything under a safety. The lapped cars should unlap. Let’s race.’”

He admits it…now fia go give Lewis that championship back.

Christian Horner has revisited the final Safety Car controversy of Abu Dhabi 2021, and openly described Red Bull pushing Michael Masi to allow the lapped cars through.
🎙️ 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿: “Originally he said, ‘No, the cars are not to unlap.’ And then by putting pressure on him, he agreed to unlap the cars.”
But Horner also acknowledges the crucial detail: Masi only released the cars positioned between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
🎙️ 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿: “The only controversial thing that he did… [was] only the ones between Lewis and Max.”
Horner adds that, looking back, Masi could simply have allowed 𝗮𝗹𝗹 of the lapped cars through.
That decision transformed the finale: Verstappen restarted directly behind Hamilton on fresh softs, while Lewis was on hards more than 40 laps old.

So Hamilton was marginal on a two stop and they chose to pit Leclerc in the VSC not Lewis!? 🤦♂️

It’s always “work as a team” until you have to work as a team with Ferrari. This isn’t even on Charles, I’m sure he would let Lewis go if he knew that Lewis was going to pit again and come out behind him. What a stupid pit wall

absolutely no coincidence that F1’s two greatest drivers are on the front row at a proper drivers’ circuit we haven’t visited in almost a decade

One is a nepo baby whose dad helped him secure an F1 seat at 17, while the other came from a working-class background, and his dad had to work two jobs to support his racing career. Lewis had to earn his seat in F1 by working his way through the junior ranks. He didn't have the privilege of getting into F1 at 17 through his dad's connections
