Background: Health Minister Sylvia Jones is aggressively rolling out a Medical Priority Dispatch System to regional Ambulance Communications Centres across Ontario to SAVE MONEY. So now you may die at home instead of in her hospital. She saves money on ambulances and hospitals.

Doug Ford destroys Ontario place.
Therme builds a data center on that land.
Chairman of Therme is President of Palantir Canada.
Cohere gets 3.5b to use that data center.
Cohere works with Palantir.
Palantir is the tech department of the Military Industrial Complex.

ICYMI: Cohere is being sued by TorStar in New York.
"New York judge Colleen McMahon labelled Cohere’s arguments 'without merit' and said the publishers have made 'adequate' allegations."

Say, isn’t Cohere being sued by a host of Canadian (and American) media outlets? Just sayin’. #canada #journalists #cdnpoli #AI #cdnmedia #MarkCarney @EvanLSolomon
Has anyone looked into similar schemes from Ford (not prisons...yet) @Thetrilliumca
A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it.
The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million.
How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place.
Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

Wife of a long term dementia patient here - 👋
If Bruce had signed an advanced directive, would I have been left to make the decision on when to apply MAiD?
Even after 11 years, yesterday I saw him smile, laugh, interact and enjoy his meals while being non-mobile, incontinent and non verbal.
I can promise you, I would ignore any advanced directive. Yes, he is a different man with a different life now but subjectively and objectively he is comfortable and content. I would not believe this Bruce would want to stop living.
In this case, would the “state” step in to provide MAiD over my objections and experience? We are rushing to a set of really complex entanglements. So much room for harm.
As a cancer MD, here’s what terrifies me about advance MAiD requests.
A patient with dementia could be smiling, laughing and enjoying life.
But a document signed years earlier says it’s time to die.
Administer MAiD and risk criminal charges? Refuse and potentially face a College complaint from the family?
What an extraordinary position to put a physician in.

Integrated with Google Cloud.
Being sued by publishers, including TorStar.
According to their own staff, "the valuation is disconnected from reality." 👇
Cohere is backed by NVIDIA, Oracle, AMD, Tiger Global and Saudi-linked Prosperity7 Ventures.
It also partnered with U.S.-based @CoreWeave to build and operate AI computing infrastructure in Ontario.
Now Ottawa is committing up to $1.6 BILLION in taxpayer money.
How much of Cohere is actually Canadian owned? How much of its infrastructure is under foreign control?
And why should taxpayers bankroll a government-picked winner without clear answers?
"Billionaires shouldn't be taxed on stock gains they haven't sold, because it isn't real money until they cash out."
Fine.
Then explain why my county reassessed my home this year and sent me a bigger bill.
I didn't sell it.
I didn't refinance.
I haven't seen a single dollar of that "extra value."
But I'm still handing over more every year because my house is worth more on paper.
Funny how paper gains are "not real" for a billionaire's portfolio, but completely real the moment they show up on a homeowner's tax statement.
Just saw this on Reddit

This is what happens when you outsource every aspect of Infrastructure: The entire purpose of private corps is profit.

So if I purchase a DVD and digitize it, that’s copyright infringement. But if an AI company buys my book and scans it to train their system, that’s perfectly fine? Once again, corporations are allowed to play by their own rules. I’m so sick of the hypocrisy.

Carney could protect Canadians.
But he instead supports these companies founded on whole scale theft on a massive scale.
Artists, authors, and creators are being ripped off by massive, billion-dollar companies like Open AI. This theft of proprietary information is plainly illegal, and it will devastate the American industries built upon expertise and creativity. Trump’s DOJ is out of line in its attempt to intervene in this case, and it is badly misinformed about the purpose of copyright law and allowable exceptions for fair use. America can and should lead the world in artificial intelligence without building it on theft.

68% of Canadians oppose data centers, yet politicians are approving them anyway because our government doesn’t work for us. It works for the owners of capital and until the people truly grasp this nothing will change.

Canadians need to decide what they wanna do.
