Music royalties on-chain. Again?
Miso on $SUI is going after a genuinely broken problem.
There’s a new project called Miso, built on Sui, and it’s tackling a genuinely broken problem, how musicians get paid.
Right now, a dollar spent on music takes anywhere from two months to two years to reach the people who actually made it. On the way it passes through six or seven middlemen, and every one of them takes a cut, and earns interest on your money while it sits in their account waiting.
Miso’s idea is to put the ownership and the splits on-chain, so the money settles fast and automatically to everyone who’s owed, with nobody sitting in the middle deciding when you get paid.
Now I’ve seen this idea a good few times. A couple of startups have gone for it, Sony built its own chain, Soneium, with music rights as a big target, and now here’s one on $SUI.
It’s a brilliant market, and I genuinely think it will come on-chain eventually.
The question was never if. It’s who gets there first and actually pulls it off. So let’s see if Miso on Sui’s got what it takes

Our launch artist @_gatewaygirl_ has already earned over $500 in royalties from record sales on Miso.
That's roughly the equivalent of 125,000 streams on legacy platforms like Spotify!
And instead of waiting months for a payout, those royalties reached her within seconds of each purchase.

I'm very excited to see how Miso will be received by not only artists and music lovers, but also the Sui locals. I believe Miso will be a technical Sui benchmark, a showcase of applying the Sui stack to build real products, and hopefully a source of inspiration to new builders.

Hard to believe half the year is passed already.
Over the past year, this market has taken out a lot of projects and communities. Narratives come and go, attention moves fast, and most people eventually disappear.
We’ve just kept building.
Showing up every day. Building in public. Staying close to the community. And since day one of Sui mainnet, we’ve stayed focused on bringing our IP to life.
We’re only a few months away from Studio Mirai turning five, which is pretty surreal. I’ll save those reflections for another post.
For now, I’m just grateful.
