Uganda’s gaming licence renewal is an audit, not a form.
With @lgrb_uganda enforcing strict NCEMS integration, URA withholding tax sync, & non-negotiable compliance deadlines, missing one document means zero evaluation.

Between 14–15 October, on behalf of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board - Uganda (NLGRB), I joined regulators, operators and industry stakeholders at the iGaming Future East Africa 2026 summit at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya, where I participated in a panel on “The Future of East African Regulation: Creating Competitive Markets”.
Our discussion explored a critical question: how can East Africa balance effective regulation and taxation with the conditions needed for a competitive, compliant and sustainable gaming industry?
Across Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, operators are navigating demanding regulatory environments. Their concerns about compliance costs, policy certainty and opportunities for growth deserve constructive dialogue.
For us as regulators, the responsibility is to protect players, uphold integrity and support compliance while providing clear, consistent and practical frameworks within which licensed businesses can operate responsibly.
Achieving that balance requires continued engagement between regulators, policymakers and operators. Greater regional cooperation and the exchange of experience can also help us respond to an industry that continues to evolve across borders.
I welcome these conversations and look forward to working with stakeholders to build a responsible, competitive and sustainable gaming sector.

Our message remains clear: If you choose to gamble, do so responsibly.
Only bet money you can afford to lose; never bet funds intended for rent, fuel, school fees, or other essential needs. Know your limits. Stay in control.
