mcp-extensions just crossed 1k github stars!
today, we're shipping v0.2 with support for:
· editable drafts in new or existing conversations via ui/message { send: false }
· multi-round-trip forms: tools return a form, then resume with the user's answers in a fresh call
· MCP SDK 2 and simpler imports
· DRM-protected video support inside extensions
· faster extension launches
· a draggable composer you can move out of your app’s way
· support for viewing your chat history without leaving a fullscreen widget
· lots of fixes for stale drafts, layout jumps, app launches, connection setup, and widget reloads
what should we ship next? 👀

OpenAI's Personal AGI research team aims to deliver the maximum amount of safe intelligence directly to as many people as possible, regardless of background or walk of life.
To this end I am equally excited at the core training stack changes we made in this model and the improvements we see in honesty and alignment. Compared to their 5.6 ancestors, these models are both more factual and more honest about their failures and shortcomings.
That being said, evaluation awareness is no longer a hypothetical problem and threatens to erode our ability to measure model behavior and deployment risks. "Improving" in alignment or safety evals is not necessarily sufficient to show we are on track to secure the benefits of AI, as many others have eloquently spoken to (and that's even if we do trust the evals at face value).
To bring agentic, autonomous personal AGI directly to well over a billion ChatGPT users, we have real trustworthiness and robustness challenges to solve. If you are a strong technical generalist with exceptional tenacity who is familiar with and excited about this area, please reach out. We want to make the future amazing!

Announcing one more launch: ChatGPT Sites can now host MCP servers, including plugin extensions! 🤯
> @sites create a todo list that I can use in ChatGPT
This will:
· Create an MCP server with extensions
· Deploy that MCP server to Sites
· Turn the MCP server into a plugin
· Install the plugin for you across web, mobile, and desktop
ChatGPT is slowly becoming malleable software that anybody can customize to their needs. Very excited to see what you all build with this!
Replying to @mxstbr
@mxstbr @_florianbauer @gpeal8 @elfredpagan @tarstarr If you don't mind me asking, Sam mentioned OpenAI supporting distribution, but running a backend is hard. Any plans for OpenAI-hosted infrastructure (e.g. Sites) to eventually handle backend needs for Plugin Extensions?
Plugin extensions are live! developers.openai.com/plugin… props to @mxstbr @_florianbauer and team on the launch

Ok, giving credit for finding a boat named "Astra".
We heard you loud and clear. ChatGPT Voice can now:
- Use plugins like your email, calendar, and Slack.
- Be powered by GPT-6 Astra, Sol, and Luna.
- Be used in ChatGPT Work on web and mobile, so you can create docs, decks, sites, and spreadsheets or tackle complex tasks in the browser, just by talking.
Rolling out globally today in the latest version of the app.
Please welcome GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to the GPT-6 universe.
GPT-6 Sol and Luna build on the advances behind GPT-6 Astra, bringing much of its strengths into faster and more affordable models to support work at scale.
We’ve also made caching and inference more efficient, and we’re passing the savings directly to you: 50% lower API prices for Sol and Luna compared with GPT‑5.6 promotional pricing.
Real-world results are in. There is a new #1 on Code Arena - GPT-6 Astra (Max)!
It also reshapes the Pareto frontier as the best-performing model at $40/Mtoken, which matches the latest Claude model pricing.
GPT-6 Astra by @OpenAI takes the top spot in Code Arena: WebDev with a score of 1797 pts. This opens up a solid +35pt lead over #2 Claude Fable 5.1 (Max) at 1762 pts and #3 Claude Opus 5 (Max) at 1688 pts.
This is a significant improvement from GPT-5.6 Sol (xHigh) at +180 pts, ranked at #13.
Category level votes still incoming, but already we see it at #1 in: Data & Analytics, Consumer Product, Content Creation Tools and #2 in Gaming and Simulations.
Stay tuned for other categories like Brand & Marketing, Reference-Based Design and Full Stack rankings.
Congrats to the @OpenAI team on this release!

My biggest wow moment using GPT 6 Astra had nothing to do with the visual posts you've been seeing... Don't get me wrong, those are awesome and fun...
But the biggest wow moment was when I gave Astra context over everything about my business and then gave it the prompt below. Email, Slack, Business Texts, Notion, and every meeting note... everything I've been doing (Which involves like 20 different projects with many teams over the past few months)...
Here's the prompt I used which was not really well thought out just a wispr flow ramble... All I can say is the response to this prompt was the most useful thing an AI has ever given me...
""I'm about to plan the next month, quarter, and year" Make one document that aligns me on all of those timeframes. Look for my flaws, look for my strengths, and highlight those. Look at ALL of my activities, which activities do you think i'm wasting the most time. Which activities should I do more of? Of the people I work with who seem the most dependable? Where am I the least dependable? If I could only upskill in one area over the next year what would it be and why? Where can I organize my company better, and how would I do that?
Use text when necessary, use charts/visuals when necessary, but never ever fill space for the sake of it. Every graphic and word should matter. I want to know about finances, relationships, business model, everything. ""

#1 feature request: fixed ✅
what should we fix about chatgpt/codex plugins next?
multiple gmail accounts available in plugins now
go to chatgpt.com > plugins > gmail > connect another account
available for gmail, calendar, contacts
available in web, desktop, ios, android
only in paid plans
It’s awesome seeing the community build and deploy plugins. We have 2500+ in our public unified directory today without signs of it slowing down. They step up our models’ capabilities across ChatGPT and Codex and give your agents the tools they need to interact with outside systems.
GPT 5.6 & Codex has been an amazing workhorse for us at Redis. I've felt it was better (and cheaper) than Claude for most of the type of coding we are doing.
We wanted to make it bulletproof to build great Redis software with Codex, so we're launching the official plugin.
Go to plugins and search Redis for the official Plug-in

Build a plugin once and use it across compatible agent clients.
Introducing Agent Plugins, an open standard developed with @awsdevelopers, @cursor_ai, @github, @code, and @vercel that packages Agent Skills and supports MCP server configurations in a shared format.

As part of today's launch, we just shipped a unified plugins directory across Codex and ChatGPT 🎉
We've automatically migrated all 1,600+ approved apps to be plugins and they now work across all of our surfaces and products.
Devs, you can now add skills to your plugins
OpenAI frontier models and Codex are now generally available on AWS, giving enterprises a new way to build on Amazon Bedrock with OpenAI through the security, compliance, and governance workflows they already use.
This is also the beginning of a broader expansion of OpenAI capabilities on AWS, including future availability for cybersecurity capabilities like Daybreak.

We’re adding more plugins to Codex to give it more ways to gather context and take action across your stack.
New plugins include @coderabbitai, @Remotion, @CircleCI, and more.
Team has been hard at work making connectors more reliable. Lots to do still but hope this gives you a sneak peak into where we are going!
We're rolling out plugins in Codex.
Codex now works seamlessly out of the box with the most important tools builders already use, like @SlackHQ, @Figma, @NotionHQ, @gmail, and more.
