That isn’t a safety plan—it’s holding a public institution hostage to his vanity. The building needs repairs, but the claim that a complete shutdown is necessary remains disputed, Congress appropriated $257 million for those repairs, and there is no independent documentation showing Trump raised the additional $17 million he claims. If this were genuinely about public safety, the renovation wouldn’t depend on Trump getting his name on the building.

Donald Trump skipped the 9/11 memorial because it would not let him be the main character.
Twenty-five years after the attacks, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush stood at Ground Zero and honored the 2,977 people murdered that day. The sitting president of the United States could not be bothered.
The New York ceremony does not allow political speeches. It is for the dead. That was a deal-breaker. So Trump went to the Pentagon, where he could grab a microphone and turn remembrance into a performance.
Four former presidents showed up for the victims. Trump showed up for Trump.

How dare you, Congressman. My husband enlisted in the Army and put his life on the line for our country after losing his friend, Todd Ouida, in the towers on 9/11. This is a despicable lie to the people of Michigan about what that day means to me and my family, the sacrifices made, and the devastating impact of that attack on our country.
I have never, and would never, campaign with anyone who says something so reprehensible.
If you have any decency, you will immediately take down this false ad. The veterans and families who lost loved ones on 9/11 deserve better than your lies and self-serving political opportunism.
