📢 Hurricane Melissa Update In Kingston, WCK partner Mystic Thai prepared meals ahead of Hurricane Melissa’s arrival. Comforting plates of chicken curry with rice and salad were served to families sheltering from the storm. With our network of local partners, we’re ready to begin serving more meals as soon as it’s safe after Melissa’s landfall. #ChefsForJamaica

Here's hoping #Beryl doesn't impact Jamaica too badly. I deployed there after Hurricane Dean in 2007 with @mapaction which mostly affected the southernmost coast.
In the first position I have a video of #Sentinel2 which captures the most detailed image ever of #HurricaneBeryl. Closer views show ocean waves in amazing detail. As #BERYL nears Jamaica, it’ll be the first major hurricane to impact the island since #Dean in 2007, and potentially the first major landfall on the island since #Gilbert in 1988. I was an On Camera Meteorologist at The Weather Channel when Gilbert hit #Jamaica. I was on the air and warning Jamaica about the extreme danger. I remember the extensive damage and deaths as a result of the this #Major #Hurricane. Storm surge, flash flooding, mud slides, major #hurricane winds are going to arrive in Jamaica tomorrow. It will be near the #Cayman #Islands on Thursday.

Really great point by Cathy Riley @flowminder - we should consider the end user of our data visualisation What if it is printed? What colours should we consider? What if users may be colour blind? How do we make our quality #data most accessible? @mapaction #dataforgood #HNPW
In a packed room at #HNPW! We’re all here to listen to @mapaction and other #data focused orgs on data quality challenges & their impact #dataforgood

At #HNPW....very interested to hear how people affected by the conflict in #Sudan have been using social media to access life saving information, such as safe travel routes I wonder how agencies like @mapaction could support visualising these maps to make accessible? #GISforgood

Posing some big important questions this morning at #HNPW Who defines #quality in #humanitarian programming? Is this the humanitarian standards themselves? But how do we ensure that what communities value most are at the forefront? @mapaction #data4good
