I will be chasing this impactful snowstorm across the Carolinas during January 31 - February 1. The upper storm system will provide the lift necessary for 5-8” of snowfall acrods the western half of the snow map, with double digit totals possible in the higher mountains of western NC/eastern TN.
Meanwhile, a coastal low will deepen rapidly off the North Carolina Outer Banks tomorrow night, which could yield a brief window for blizzard conditions along the coast IF the cyclone deepens quickly enough as it lifts northeastward away from the coast. Winds could gust up to 60 mph along the northern NC OBX up to southeast Virginia. Stay tuned!
