Vote YES on RTM! It'll cost an East Bay family that spends $20k on taxable goods/year $100. That's far less than the cost of the time and additional gas it'd take to navigate the resulting congestion from far-reduced transit services
Bay Area residents take 1M+ trips every weekday on our four largest transit systems — to get to work, school & everywhere in between.
We can’t let devastating cuts take that away. I’m voting YES on the Regional Transit Measure to keep our region moving. sfgate.com/news/bayarea/arti…

You get a few gallons of the thickest leaded white paint, and you just slather it over everything but the floor. Hinges? Yep. Doorknobs? You betcha. Window edges? Seal em shut with that paint. Steam rediator? Definitely.
People on here claiming it takes 3 hours to paint a furnished living room have either never painted a room or have never done a remotely passable job of it
This should be as a percentage of home value and if also doesnt take into account that most elderly property owners in Calif barely pay any taxes thanks to Prop 13...

There's also a pretty clear strategy for old people mad about paying property taxes

Except in CA where our electricity is (shockingly) more overpriced than our gas.
Orwellian arguments, fuzzy math and a hippie cult: This is the dawning of the S.F. midterm election: “You cannot legislate a solution to a problem that is fundamentally a management problem. It requires good management” - @EskSF missionlocal.org/2026/10/dan… via @MLNow

If you find a good drywall guy, hold him close. Watch his kids. Wash his car. Whatever it takes. Go into debt if you have to.
We had a warranty call on a mini split and had to open the wall. Yay. HVAC plus drywall and paint $1060. 🚮

It would be so great if these people engaged in real conversations.
There is so much to learn and understand about architecture, it’s interesting to see people completely turn off their curiosity when they can’t grasp a new subject.

We spent $600B - $1.2T in real dollars fixing Y2K. It was a huge effort!
The lack of major problems from Y2K was more a result of solid preparation than misplaced fears.
Here is one for @bobbyfijan
The average new car payment is now almost $1000?!
29% of trade-ins have negative equity. Yikes
I don’t understand how people go on vacation when they have that much debt
But this is fundamentally why being upper middle class means nothing. You’re competing with everyone willing to take on endless debt for a lot of experiences and perceived status or class / quality of life

WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners.
Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads.
Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was.
Got a root shell.
then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems.
This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

Claude can no longer “Reverse Engineer Anything.”
Anthropic just quietly killed REA.
But Interesting timing.
After a few viral cases of people using Claude to reverse-engineer Samsung TV firmware and identify data-collection services, Anthropic appears to have restricted those reverse-engineering abilities.

Very useful voter guide for San Francisco:

revised with DSA's full recommendation list (beyond endorsements)
missed because DSA's voter guide webpage is so long that Claude gave up lmao

Pretty cool to have an app like X where everyone knows exactly what’s going to happen over the 18-24 months.
Makes business so much easier!

Don't forget he also popularized the concepts of exploded view drawings of mechanical inventions and anatomy.
He also painted what is considered to be the first true landscape painting.
He called himself a discipline of experience. And he wrote backwards in a mirror script.
Leonardo da Vinci created the first ever
"satellite view" map in 1502 of Imola, Italy.
He did this by manually measuring the angles and distance of every corner on every building in the city.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Leonardo’s 1502 Imola map was not the first overhead city plan. The Forma Urbis of Rome, made in 203–211 CE, mapped every building’s ground plan at 1:240 scale. Leonardo’s work was a surveyed Renaissance plan, but calling it the first “satellite view” is inaccurate.

#CustomCabinets:
If you buy factory cabinets from a store you may not know this happens:
The custom cabinet designer (shop owner typically) has been onsite several times measuring openings, ceiling heights, plumbing stub locations, clearances etc.
Custom cabinets are delivered to jobsite within a few inches of install spot by people who care because they made them. "please take care of my babies"
Precut to size Baltic birch "rough tops" are stacked nearby with identifying location marks
Prefabricated island top w overhang has steel reinforcement installed already.
The "packing" blankets leave with the delivery crew (no dumpster's worth of cardboard to remove and dispose of)
The cabinets are overall taller to account for finished floor thickness installed after.
No color matched laminate sides or trim pieces show up waiting to fade later.
There's a name on the hardware & it doesn't look the same.
