Right at the beginning of the 2026 Drumcree stand-off, @little_pengelly asked @moneillsf to join her in publicly calling for tensions to be de-escalated. She refused. Now ask yourself - why would she do that?

Can we have an "accept status quo, leave constitutional matters to MPs and focus on everything else" Assembly/Council party in Northern Ireland please? And no, Alliance most definitely isn't it.

🇵🇱 For everyone asking what's happening in Poland tonight, here are the key points: 1. The Constitutional Tribunal's leadership has been challenged. Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska issued orders suspending Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and Vice-President Bartłomiej Sochański from their duties for one month. She claims authority to take over the Tribunal's leadership as its most senior judge. 2. Why did she do this? Korwin-Piotrowska accuses the existing leadership of obstructing the work of judges elected by the current parliamentary majority, violating judicial procedures and preventing the proper functioning of the Tribunal. She also raised concerns about the court's 2027 budget. 3. The Tribunal rejects the orders. Its existing leadership says the official website was illegally taken over and insists that Święczkowski remains president. The legality of Korwin-Piotrowska's decisions is disputed. 4. Police entered the building. Following the announcement, demonstrators gathered outside the Tribunal. Tensions escalated, with some people reportedly climbing over the fence and throwing objects at police officers. Police intervened and several people were detained. 5. Why is this Tribunal so important? The Constitutional Tribunal determines whether laws and other legal acts comply with Poland's Constitution. Its decisions can affect legislation, government actions and the country's entire legal system. Control over its leadership therefore has major constitutional and political significance. 6. This conflict has been building for months. Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government and President Karol Nawrocki have been locked in a dispute over the Tribunal's composition. Nawrocki refused to swear in three judges elected by parliament, while the Tribunal's existing leadership refused to allow judges appointed by the current parliamentary majority to take their seats. Tusk's government does not recognise the Tribunal's legitimacy and has refused to publish some of its rulings, citing controversial judicial appointments made under the previous PiS government. 7. Political reactions are escalating. PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński called on President Nawrocki to intervene, accusing Tusk's government of turning Poland into a police state. Nawrocki cancelled his trip to Senegal and announced that he is returning to Poland. Tusk, meanwhile, says restoring the rule of law is a difficult but necessary process. The situation is still developing. Both sides dispute the legality of the actions taken, and the legal authority behind the latest orders remains unresolved. Poland is now facing one of its most serious institutional confrontations in recent years. What happens next will depend on whether the two sides can resolve this dispute through legal and constitutional channels or whether the standoff escalates further. For now, Warsaw remains at the centre of a crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for the country's institutions and political future.

If I had been in their position, I would have delayed any action until I had first invited the FM to avoid any crisis and take her own advice.

SF knows what it must do to avoid this crisis. I mean, they wrote the book on it. @duponline @PhillipBrett21

Hearing a lot of commentary that Sinn Fein will be a big winner out of Drumcree. Bottom line is SF has shown it hasn't left threat of force & disorder behind. If people who decided to vote for them on the basis they have changed aren't concerned by that, we have a problem.

The sisters have a legitimate grievance against your movement and have an incontrovertible right to truth and justice. (Both of which your movement continues to deny to them.) Your effort to what-about their cause is loathsome.

The Garvaghy Alliance & commentariat have totally misread the impact 'Drumcree' has had on the middle ground of NI. Those with no affinity or sympathy with Orangeism for the first time recognise a venom exists against ALL who do not travel with Irish Republicanism & Nationalism

A statement on yesterday….. Everything I said in that interview was true. However, rest assured I’m doing my best to turn things round. I have been in a mental health clinic for the last 10 weeks, finally discharging so I could attempt to play in Belfast I owed that to my family, in particular my daughter to see me play for what could be the last time….. I also owed it to the fans who have supported me throughout my 21 years on tour I also owed that to World Snooker who have been amazing from day on in all this, in particular Simon Brownell and Neil Tomkins who have remained in touch regularly, even Simon paying me a visit in the clinic itself I’m not ok, but I’m ok in that itself. I’ve been much worse in the last few months than you saw yesterday. I literally didn’t see a future in anything….. My daughter kept me going, the therapists, staff and all the other patients were amazing and helped me through some really dark days I see the light now that I couldn’t see before but I do now. I also know it won’t happen overnight. I’m a work in progress!!! My fight and determination on the table has always been there for ones to see. I need to show those same fighting qualities off it now for a while Please don’t detract anything from Jordan yesterday, he’s been aware of my struggles and that can’t have been easy to play in but he handled it with grace and skill as I knew he would. Im proud to call him a friend I hope the rest of the event is a success and I will continue my treatments going forward and then see what’s ahead Thank you to every single message I have received on here, instagram, Facebook, text messages and WhatsApp’s, I’ve seen them all but a bit overwhelmed to reply right now. Just know that they have helped me a lot but I’m not going anywhere just yet!!!! I have so much to live for and this is only the beginning of my new journey Also, I was not made to do any interviews, I was simply given a choice and felt I owed it to everyone to speak. The media team at WST have been incredible through all this too Thank you all x

Genuinely one of the most heartbreaking interviews I’ve seen of a sportsman at rock bottom. The interviewer gives a perfect example of how to be there for someone struggling. The compassion shown. The hug. The kindness. Hope Mark gets the help he needs.

I have too busy a day to spend any part of it engaging with your disingenuous cherrypicking to deflect from the uncomfortable position you've placed yourself in here. Here's what you used to tell us. I wonder what changed. Have a good day.

We reject your attempts to drag us back to the bad old days of governance by crowds on the streets. There can be mo more of this dangerous nonsense and your party should pay a price for inciting it.

Firefighters are at the scene of a lorry carrying oil that is on fire in Lurgan. The blaze started shortly before 12 noon. I understand five fire appliances have been sent to the scene @BelTel

Violence in Strabane Violence in Londonderry Bombing at Dunmurry police station Bombing at Lurgan police station Bomb caught coming towards the border...
Reminder that the only acts of organised violence seen on our streets this year was when loyalist paramilitaries weaponised disenfranchised young men and sent them out with petrol bombs to burn immigrant families out of their homes.

The sentence tariff for child abusers should have a minimum that equates to the period of time from first offence to date of conviction. Thoughts?
