My first thought isn’t on the list! 🤣
Helpful prompt about what to do if the internet goes down due to a global cyberattack/AI swarm. This seems less insane with every passing day. I also bought myself the SAS Survival Guide, which is essentially a bush manual for almost every imaginable outcome. Money - Keep cash at home, about two to four weeks of essentials, in small bills. - Write down your bank, credit card and insurance account details and phone numbers on paper. Information and contacts - Print a contact list with family, close friends, neighbors, doctors and the kids’ school. - Agree on a family meeting point and plan in case phones are down, such as “if we can’t reach each other, meet at X by Y time.” - Export and print or save offline anything business-critical. - Download offline maps - Keep paper copies of passports, IDs, insurance cards and prescriptions. Communication - Get a battery or hand-crank AM/FM/NOAA radio, which will be your main news source. - Consider a pair of walkie-talkies or GMRS radios for the family. - Keep a landline-style backup in mind. Most “landlines” now run over the internet, so don’t count on yours. Power - Keep power banks charged, plus a solar charger or a larger portable power station. - Have flashlights, headlamps and spare batteries. Water and food (aim for 2 weeks) - Store about 1 gallon of water per person per day. In a high-rise this matters most, because building water pumps need electricity. - Stock shelf-stable food the kids will actually eat, plus a manual can opener. - Keep a camping stove with fuel for outdoor or ventilated use only, or no-cook foods. Health - Keep at least a 30-day supply of any prescriptions. - Have a first aid kit, OTC basics like pain relievers in children’s doses, and hygiene supplies. Home and offline life - Learn how to manually open anything electronic, such as smart locks and the building’s garage or entry. - Keep a paper copy of the building’s emergency procedures and super’s number. - Download offline entertainment and learning material for the kids: books, games, art supplies. - Get to know a few neighbors, since local community becomes your network fast. Digital hygiene (helps before and after) - Back up photos and documents to an external drive kept offline. - Use strong, unique passwords with 2FA, and keep printed recovery codes for key accounts.

Abundance and freedom from struggle may *be* a catastrophe. At least, in the "mouse utopia" experiments, in every iteration the mice died *to the last mouse* in ~12 generations of having everything just given to them. They went mad first.

Meanwhile, over in the parallel universe of @bluesky. I am tempted to ask if it's actually good for you... and we should always have masked up, from birth.

The “catastrophe” of abundance and freedom from drudgery. Jobs aren’t wealth.
AI is massively deflationary, not inflationary. All digital goods and services will become abundant first, then eventually once you have mass humanoids all physical goods and services become abundant too. All prices will trend towards the cost of compute, which will trend towards the cost of energy, downwards. As this happens, humans will become unable to compete economically because why would you hire a human that is 1000x slower and 1000x more expensive and 1000x less effective at achieving a goal than an AI? Eventually this will cause human unemployment to massively increase. Those humans have lots of debt eg mortgages they won't be able to pay, which will cause a massive credit crunch and likely a banking crisis that will catalyse a sovereign debt crisis. We are very close to the End Game of the fiat monetary system.

Does propaganda by definition increase power differentials? Isn’t “white propaganda” an oxymoron? Or does propaganda come in light and dark flavours?
The intelligence community must work “In True Face”, because that makes their psyops white propaganda (education). Notable Souls compared to the DGA son of Ridley Scott, replacing Cecil B. DeMille as the director of The Ghost Army.

You can spend 40 years saving into a retirement plan, then throw it all away because you wouldn't spend 40 minutes doing research into a survival plan for a bio-information war. Money can't clean your body of poison.

So the The City Bridge Foundation is there to maintain London Bridge, Tower Bridge and three other Thames crossings. They are sitting on a £1.5bn fortune built from its medieval endowment. Now we hear the charity has been criticised for pouring tens of millions of pounds into social justice causes and political campaigns while many of London’s other river crossings fall into disrepair. The foundation is under scrutiny over a £1.1m grant given to a Muslim network whose trustee heads another charity, which is under investigation for alleged links to Hamas.  Its funds also supported an LGBT group campaigning against a new river crossing, seemingly at odds with the foundation’s original purpose.  Nick Timothy, the shadow justice secretary, called for an investigation into the donation and questioned the wider use of funds for a “left-wing ideological agenda … given other infrastructure on the river is crumbling” The Times has the story. It’s a tale of lefty handwringers using a charity to fund their pet projects. They infiltrate every where🤨

Now is not the time to “make a point” Complain and make your points on X all you want. Point out the flaws of the Republican Party all you want. Tag your Senators and Representatives all you want. Make your voice heard all you want. But get out and Vote in November. Every election for the foreseeable future is the most important election of your lifetime. Get used to that. Accept it and then treat them as such. You’ve seen what they want to do. You’ve seen what they’ve done already. You’ve seen who they prioritize with their laws and mandates. You’ve seen who they protect. America is the last true beacon of hope for this World. If it falls NOBODY is coming to save us. Not the UN. Not our “allies” and not even God himself. It’s up to us to keep what we have here. And every election we lose ground in we push ourselves closer to extinction. Understand that, believe that and then get out and ensure it doesn’t happen on our watch. God bless you all. God bless POTUS. AND GOD BLESS AMERICA. 🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸🐸🇺🇸

For 70 years, we were told plastic was safe because it doesn't react with anything. Nature just published proof that it does. And the trigger is water. Researchers at Columbia University and UC Berkeley took six of the most common plastics on Earth. Polyethylene. Polypropylene. Polystyrene. PVC. PET. Acrylic. The stuff in your water bottles, food containers, pipes and packaging. They ground them into microplastics and dropped them into plain water. Nothing else. No sunlight. No chemicals. Just plastic and water. And the water started changing. At the surface of every single plastic, it began producing hydroxyl radicals. One of the most reactive and destructive molecules in chemistry. All six plastics did it. Every one. To prove it, they added a yellow dye to water with polystyrene. Over 10 days, nearly 90% of the dye was destroyed. The water turned almost clear. In other liquids, the dye survived. Only water made the plastic active. In plain English: The plastic isn't leaking a toxic chemical. It is turning the water around it into something that attacks. Then they tested what that does to living things. DNA and proteins got pulled onto the plastic surface like magnets. Proteins started clumping together. And red blood cells that touched the particles were torn into broken fragments. But here is the twist. The most dangerous plastics were the ones we trusted most. Polyethylene and polypropylene, the "safe" plastics in bottles and food containers, were the most reactive of all. The effect was weaker in blood serum. But it was still there. And microplastics have already been found in human blood, brains, placentas and arteries. The lead researcher said it plainly: "Water is a key active player here, rather than just a spectator." We spent decades asking what chemicals leak out of plastic. Nobody thought to ask what plastic does to the water inside us. How many times have you sipped from a plastic bottle today?
