Gurmeet Singh, an India-born NYC taxi driver, picked up a woman in Williamsburg in May 2011. She fell asleep in the back of his cab. He drove her to a secluded location, threatened her with a knife, bound, gagged, and blindfolded her, and raped her.
She escaped at dawn and got help.
He applied for citizenship shortly afterward and was naturalized on October 19, 2011, while concealing the crime (he had not yet been arrested).
Arrest came in January 2012 via DNA evidence. He was convicted in 2014 of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping as a sexually motivated felony and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In 2026, the Justice Department under Attorney General Todd Blanche secured a federal court judgment revoking his naturalization for concealing the material facts of the rape and kidnapping during the process.
The court order was entered in late August 2026.
The core facts it states (the 2011 rape after the passenger fell asleep, citizenship granted weeks/months later under the Obama administration, and later denaturalization) are accurate. I am for praying for the day you’re no longer President. After, of course, you finish the cleanup of our country that you've started.
