Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, was secretly filmed asking a businessman for £500,000 to "open doors" to Andrew. The businessman was an undercover reporter from the News of the World, a British tabloid.
In the video below, she tells him the money will "open up all the channels, whatever you need, whatever you want," and "then you meet Andrew and that's fine."
It was May 2010, and Andrew was Britain's trade envoy. She wanted the rest by wire transfer: "If you give me the bank account details, I'll arrange that no problem at all." Before he left, she picked up a $40,000 cash deposit in a black computer bag.
The paper ran the footage on May 23. The palace said Andrew was "unaware of the meeting." She apologized the same day for "a serious lapse in judgement."
Then the story flipped. In 2016 the reporter, Mazher Mahmood, known as the "Fake Sheikh," was jailed for 15 months for tampering with evidence in a different case. That year she sued the paper's owner. By 2018 she wanted £40 million in lost earnings, including two TV shows.
In January 2018, the owner's lawyers called her case "defective and embarrassing" and stood by the story. No ruling on her claim has been reported.
If a reporter lies to catch you saying something real, should his paper owe you £40 million?

A single drop of rain hits his head and he throws a tantrum asking “where’s the umbrella?”.
We already saw him lose his head over a leaky pen at the Queen’s funeral.
The moment these people face a minor inconvenience ordinary people deal with daily, they absolutely fold.
We are entirely to blame for continuing to fund this multi-million pound state of opulence at our expense, all because someone had the sheer luck of popping out of the right royal minge.
Absolutely out of touch. #AbolishTheMonarchy

If Bay-denoch is prepared to betray her ancestral homeland and its history by saying the British Empire was "overall a force for good", just imagine how she will betray the British people.

Can’t we put Hancock in the dock & ask him how known, reputable PPE suppliers were passed over for his mate who owned a pub. Gove could tell us what experience Michelle Mone had in the industry.
A TOY company and two GIN distillers amongst companies referred for providing Covid PPE via the "VIP" lane...
No wonder the Tory govt didn't want to release this information!

Tory MP James Cleverly attempting to argue that we can’t rejoin the largest trading bloc on the planet (that could provide a 6% inc. in growth), because we’d have to leave a trade agreement on the other side of the earth that gives us about a 0.08% boost to GDP

I’ll make this as clear as I can:
A President can NOT demand that election results are overturned for the sole reason that he doesn’t like their outcome.
We are not going to stand by while Donald Trump tries to seize power over our elections that does not belong to him, and we will fight him in court every step of the way.

Trump says he could have won the Vietnam War in a week.
By bombing Ho Chi Minh City.
IDIOT. The United States was defending Ho Chi Minh city, the capitol of South Vietnam. The enemy was North Vietnam, it's capitol is Hanoi.
And by the way the United States did conduct limited bombing near Hanoi, but direct bombing of Hanoi itself would likely have drawn China or the Soviet Union into directly fighting against the United States.
My God. This stupid violent idiot is Commander in Chief of the United States.
Trump:
I could have won the Vietnam War in a week.
They kept bombing forests for years instead of going after Ho Chi Minh City.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ho Chi Minh City was called Saigon during the Vietnam War and was the capital of US-allied South Vietnam; North Vietnam's capital was Hanoi.

It's a bit silly, especially on the issue of slavery.

Kicking working families off their land with a 6 month notice and pricing them out of their own homes is an absolute joke. William and Kate are not sorry for doing it.
They are only sorry because the farmers yelled, the public kicked off, and he got caught out.
Where are all the royal reporters today?
They were cheering him on last week but they are completely silent now that he has had to back down and apologise. It is absolute rubbish. #DuchyOfCornwall #PrinceWilliam
