Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500.
If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
I love facts like this! Also turns out that “Don’t Make Me Over” by @dionnewarwick came out closer to the 1800s than to present day. (And it’s STILL an absolute bop!)

It would take far more than a month to honor the contributions of queer and transgender New Yorkers.
From the Cercle Hermaphroditos in 1895, the first trans advocacy group in the United States, to the drag balls of the Harlem Renaissance, to the Stonewall uprising, to the Lesbian Herstory Archives, to ACT UP!, founded in 1987 as queer people fought for their lives while the Reagan administration looked away, New York City's history has long been shaped by queer and trans New Yorkers.
To all our queer and trans neighbors: you deserve a City where you can afford to live safely, openly, and joyfully.
Happy Pride, New York City.
I hate this platform but since it’s somewhat useful for navigating this airport fracas we live in… FWIW I was at JFK Terminal 5 at 9:45am and got through standard security in 18 minutes.
JFK lines are no joke this morning … multiple lines extending all the way outside #jfk

Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.

James Talarico: “The reason poverty exists is not because we can’t feed the poor, it’s because we can’t satisfy the rich. That’s exactly what we’re seeing with Elon Musk become the first trillionaire. This is a spiritual sickness. What leads a person to accumulate more money than they could possibly spend in a hundred lifetimes when we have people starving in this one?”
My dying words will be this!
Glenn Close was robbed in broad daylight for the Oscar for Best Actress in 2019. Close’s work in The Wife is acting excellence on full display. This is one of my favorite performances in recent memory. @TheAcademy you missed on this one big time. This was Glenn’s Oscar moment.

Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity.
People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now. You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear to all.
This is a delicate moment. It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.
It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.
In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new beginning. Let’s hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead.
