Businesses used to grow into being venture backed, now they are constructed from ideas.

There is no repeatable recipe for business success, there is only the way it works for you... the owner.

when the goal became to be a "founder" and not build a company the entire ecosystem broke.

During office hours yesterday: I had a graphics art major come into my office with some home made fermented sodas. He wasn't sure where to start, said he did this to satiate his own need for non alcoholic offerings, and offered me a tasting. Said he wasn't sure if entrepreneurship was an option for him since he wasn't a business major. I explained to him how most business majors are rule followers, they usually make good employees, and lousy entrepreneurs.

This is funny because I went from learning typing on a manual typewriter in highschool, directly to a PC. The Gen X technology horizon has been parabolic.

Morning coffee thoughts: When you have collusion disguised as competition, you get mass confusion. This works to promote the colluders exponentially, resulting in a cartel. @openai @AnthropicAI

Its an absolutely crazy idea that a business returns its owner $1m a year in profit, and people will pay $5m for it.

If you want to study the primary source of all current business guru logic you have to look no further than Zig Ziglar, Ray Kroc, and Michael Gerber. Those three references will give you everything folks are paying $100k + for, for free.

On occasion, after a dose of healthy inspiration, I write some useful, mostly practical, business and org management stuff. If you are interested, I've started to post it here: mitchellcmorris.com/perspect…

Mindset is what separates the men who endure from the ones who fold. Your mind can be your greatest weapon or the loudest saboteur in the room. It doesn’t matter if you’re naturally optimistic, a hard-headed skeptic, or somewhere in between. What matters is whether you control it, or it controls you.

All things regress toward the mean. World class has a limited availability window and it's funny how focus correlates.

What Separates the Men Who Endure Mindset is what separates the men who endure from the ones who fold. Your mind can be your greatest weapon or the loudest saboteur in the room. It doesn’t matter if you’re naturally optimistic, a hard-headed skeptic, or somewhere in between. What matters is whether you control it, or it controls you. As Morpheus told Neo: “I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.” Viktor Frankl, who survived the worst hell men have ever built, put it even sharper: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms, to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” The only thing you truly control is your mindset. Train it right and it becomes callused armor. Let it run wild and it will soften you from the inside out.

Build until you can no longer build.
Man to man The average milionaire is 57. Not 21. The average age to start a business is 43. Not 23. The average age to buy a house is 38. Not 26. The average age for a career pivot is 39. Not 25. Building animpressive physique takes 3 years. Not 90 days The average successful business takes 5-10 years. Not 6 months. So stop measuring your life against someone else's timeline. You're not behind. You're still bulding. And you're right on time.
