We're delighted to confirm that work will begin on Monday, August 17 on the first phase of a major improvement project at King George V Playing Fields in Exeter. The project is supported by almost £2 million from the Premier League, The FA and Government's Football Foundation, £464,948 via section 106 contributions from Exeter City Council, and investment from the charity itself. Phase one will include a new 3G pitch, two Football Foundation PlayZones, parking improvements, and a refurbished pavilion with accessible changing rooms and community-use rooms. The accessible play area and all pathways will remain open throughout construction, with work expected to be completed by spring 2027. A second phase - including Padel courts, a community café, woodland trails and further pitch improvements - is also planned. This is a significant investment in the future of our community in Exeter, and a project we are enormously proud to be delivering.

It was a tale of two cities and two very different football grounds for an @FCBarcelona fan who turned up at the wrong St James Park last night 🏟️ The Spanish supporter, who made the journey to Devon from London, turned up at the turnstiles of Exeter City’s Adam Stansfield stand last night, expecting to see his team take on @NUFC. It was only when he showed his ticket to staff that he realised his mistake. But he got to see a got to see a game of football – Exeter City staff sorted him out a ticket for the game against Lincoln under the lights of the real St James Park! Adam Spencer, Supporter Experience Officer at Exeter City, said: “One of our volunteers came to the office to let us know that this guy had turned up expecting to see FC Barcelona. His English wasn’t great, but from what we could gather, he’d come from London. My guess is he’d put St James Park in his phone and then just followed the directions from there. “He was pretty gutted and a bit embarrassed. So, we sorted him out a ticket and he got to watch a game at the real St James Park. He’d be welcome back any time.” #ECFC #SemperFidelis

A vitally important development for the Club and city and another legacy infrastructure investment. Huge credit to those at @ExeterCCT
We're pleased to announce that the King George V Playing Fields project is underway. The site is being developed through local and national partnerships to improve and enhance one of our city’s much-loved green spaces for the use of current and future generations. The works include a new 3G pitch, two PlayZones and refurbished changing rooms with accessible facilities. Around 65 new trees will also be planted to create a community orchard. Cronin was one of my favourite players in our early conference years. Assistant manager to a team looking to win their 4th title in 5 seasons. Be interesting to see how his career develops #ecfc

Bow Jackson absolutely excellent on co-comms today @bbcdevonsport . Actually prepared to be critical of our play and tactics, and is able to articulately explain why it’s not working #ecfc

The penalty is fair (and awful by Francis), but over the course of the game this has been the most one-sided refereeing performance I’ve seen in a long long time #ecfc

This. It’s been this way since Russia. Success don’t making two finals on the easiest side of the draw
Gareth Southgate was a C grade talent in charge of an A grade squad. A better manager would have taken England further, no matter what stats you show. A boring bloke. A boring team

Exeter City FC and the @ECFCST are bitterly disappointed, but not surprised, to learn of the fundamental changes that have been agreed to the format of the FA Cup, with seemingly no consultation of EFL and National League clubs. Our football club, like many others, owes its past, its present and its future to the FA Cup replays that have now been taken away from us by those who sit at the very top of the game. The televised replay against Manchester United that helped keep the Club alive in the early years of supporter ownership. The trip to Anfield after holding Liverpool to a draw at St James Park. The home replays against Leicester City and Newcastle United on our way to the Quarter Finals in 1981. And so many more. That only a select few clubs are allowed to slowly chip away at the very fabric of what makes the English game the envy of most with complete impunity serves only as a reminder of why the Independent Regulator is so desperately needed. Exeter City Football Club and the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust condemn the decision to scrap FA Cup replays and call on The FA to suspend these changes with immediate effect until a consultation of all stakeholders has taken place. #ECFC #SemperFidelis
