Historian Sarah Paine: When Putin dies, there's no democratic election. It's a free-for-all. Nobody in his network knows who takes over, and many Russians have military training, so civil war is possible. Recovery might take 10 years, a number I'm making up. 1/

Thank you, Emmanuel, for your condolences. Unfortunately, the death toll from the Russian strike on a commuter train in Dnipro has already risen to 14. And just a few hours ago, the Russians struck a residential neighborhood in Chernihiv with a drone and killed two girls. They were only 15 years old. In Kremenchuk, a Russian “shahed” struck an apartment building. Tragically, three people were killed. My condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. In these three attacks alone, 56 people have been reported injured, including 10 children. These are deliberate strikes against civilians, brazen in their cruelty, and the Russians are carrying them out right as the humanitarian operation in Oleshky is unfolding. Russia’s signals are clear – they want the war to continue, and everyone around the world must still work very hard to achieve major de-escalation through strong steps and appropriate pressure on the aggressor. Peace is needed – and for that to happen, Russia must end its war and terror.

These are the "American patriots" and "concerned Europeans" you're talking to on X. There's no reason to argue with computers. Just block them all and move on.

Today’s edition of the New York Post, a newspaper read in Republican offices in Washington and New York. As Americans watch the evacuation operation in Oleshky, they must remember who bears responsibility for the countless deaths in Ukraine. Their blood is on the hands of Putin and the russians. To end this war, the United States must pressure russia, not Ukraine. Three organizations – Razom for Ukraine, American Coalition for Ukraine, and Nova Ukraine – placed the following advertisement in the New York Post. Translation of the advertisement: “You are a humanitarian, sir, and I pay tribute to you for that,” – Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Putin. Just days earlier, russia bombed a residential building in Zaporizhzhia, killing 17 people, including a mother and child who were holding hands. Pressure russia, not Ukraine. A strong decision by the U.S. State Department – authorizing Ukraine’s purchase of Patriot interceptors to counter Russian ballistic missiles. Five hundred PAC-3 interceptors is a substantial number, and very soon – this winter – they COULD make for a highly effective defense package. However, it has been stipulated that deliveries may begin ONLY IN A FEW YEARS. We are asking our American partners to find a solution for the time when there is a real danger and a real need to use PAC-3 interceptors. Right now, the Russians are attacking our energy infrastructure every single day. In just these past two weeks of October, there have already been more than 30 Russian strikes on critical parts of our power grid. It is right now, even before the beginning of winter, that Putin has started carrying out his operation to attack the systems that sustain life in our cities and communities. The targets are electricity, heating, water supplies, bridges, and life in our cities in general. We did ask our American partners to provide Ukraine with a winter support package – at a rate of 100 Patriot interceptors per month. Five hundred missiles would be enough to protect our skies over the coming months – precisely when it is so important for Ukraine to be in a strong position in negotiations and for Russia NOT to succeed in breaking life in Ukrainian cities and communities. The United States, our European partners, and other partners around the world have sufficient stocks of PAC-3 interceptors in their warehouses. Providing them to Ukraine right now – in the winter of 2026–2027 – and replenishing our partners’ arsenals LATER, in THE FOLLOWING YEARS, through this production already contracted and paid for by Ukraine and our partners would be the right approach. And it is entirely feasible. We are grateful to President Trump. Importantly, we recently discussed PAC-3 interceptors with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ukraine is grateful to the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Administration overall for granting this authorization. But we are asking for decisions that can guarantee the protection of lives not the day after tomorrow or sometime later, but at the very moment the threat is there – when Russia is killing and destroying. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine! state.gov/releases/bureau-of…

☝️ Kaja Kallas names the top 3 Soviet tactics Russia still uses today First: Make demands and ask for things that were never yours. Second: Issue ultimatums and threats. Third: Just wait. Magyar’s Birds continue eliminating the enemy on an industrial scale. Online scoreboard “PIDRAKHUIKA” has already surpassed 5,500+ worms, with another day and a half of October still to go. The hottest area of operations is Donbas. Behind these numbers is the contribution of every Magyar’s Birds battalion. In the video: combat footage from the 2nd battalion, Wormbusters. #414ONESHOT

Today there was an important briefing on the results of our deep strikes in September and October. I am grateful to all our warriors for their precision and for consistently and effectively enforcing Ukraine's long-range sanctions. Every Russian strike on our cities and communities always gets our fully justified response. Russian facilities along a line stretching from Yamal to Western Siberia are now within range of our deep strikes, and we are working to ensure that our drones and missiles can reach even more distant parts of Russian territory. We have set key priorities for the further use of Ukraine's long-range capabilities. Our deep-strike units will also be expanded, drawing on the capabilities of the Security Service of Ukraine, particularly its Alpha Special Operations Center, as well as our intelligence agencies and other components of Ukraine's Defense Forces. Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities are one of the real guarantees of our independence now, during this war, and they will remain one of our long-term security guarantees after it ends. We are building up our strength. Today I also spoke with the manufacturers of these weapons. Glory to Ukraine!

🇺🇦 Budanov: For every victim in Ukraine, Russian military-industrial complex facilities must burn. I call on Ukraine’s partners to give the aggressor a worthy response to daily terror. Long-range weapons to suppress Russia’s ability to wage a genocidal war, effective air defense systems to save the lives of Ukrainian civilians – this is what will really bring peace closer.
