RE: The Iran War & the Midterms
We all agree that Trump knew the Iran War would tank the midterms. Does anyone disagree? I did not think so.
So, since we all stipulate to the above fact, that leaves really only two possible explanations for the war:
1. Trump thought indulging a bunch of neocon advisors on a wholly questionable useless, endless war was worth tanking the midterms.
-or-
2. The intel that Trump had at hand was so compelling that it represented an existential threat to humanity and he had to choose between saving humanity and winning the midterms. (Remember, the Iranian mullahs want nukes so they can use them to precipitate Armageddon and the Twelfth Imam will then miraculously arise from a well in Qom and forcibly unify what is left of humanity under the banner of Shia Islam. These are not rational people.)
I voted for Trump three times because I trust his judgment. I don't think his judgment turned to crap overnight.
I believe history will eventually record that Donald Trump made one of the bravest, most selfless decisions that any world leader has ever made, and history will also record the people who think the accurate narrative is actually #1 above as being complete doofuses.

Any Republican governor that just lost an election should immediately call for a special session to pass as much legislation before January as possible.

Grok didn’t get the memo to make left and right columns… 😉, but building upon your premise.. “free medicine ain’t free!” .. and it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Total MRI machines by top ten countries with social medicine/top US states by population/wait time/income tax rates. Don’t forget all those countries also have national VAT taxes as well.

I’m in Canada. My 13 year old daughter fell in September. She has had two X-rays of her ankle since then which do not show a break but she is still in mild/moderate pain. The doctor has referred her for an MRI. Her appointment is in June 2027.

Hey @grok how many MRI machines are in Pennsylvania versus all of Canada? Give me two numbers only, Pennsylvania first, Canada second.

"You'll never fly Falcon 9 enough." 165 launches last year. Check.

If you’re right wing and you can’t admit liberals (not communists) are way better at art and design and boutique coffee shops and restaurants, you’re not living in reality.
If you’re left wing and you can’t admit conservatives are way better at running cities and businesses and police departments, you’re not living in reality.
You step inside a beautiful coffee shop in the PNW and think “man, these liberals are great at this stuff…conservatives should take notes.” Then the moment you step outside and trip over a homeless drug zombie shooting up fentanyl on the sidewalk, you think “man these liberals are terrible at this stuff…they should really take notes from conservatives”
Communists make disgusting anti-beauty art, but classical liberals aren’t like that. Put the libs in charge of the coffee shops, put the conservatives in charge of city hall. This is how you get a city that is beautiful, clean, and functional.
If you can’t accept that, you need to check your tribalism. We are never getting rid of each other, so figure out how we strike a balance or else the communists swoop in and take everything from us while we quarrel over stupid bullshit…which is exactly what’s happening now.

This dangerous, violent, eliminationist rhetoric against the new White House Chief of Staff, who already had to move his family onto a military base due to Democrat threats against him and his family, must be condemned.
Hakeem Jeffries must be censured.

A Somali-born Minnesota Democrat whose daycare received more than $7.2 MILLION in taxpayer-funded payments despite years of licensing violations has now won a seat in the STATE LEGISLATURE, after campaigning to expand government childcare assistance.
Abdi Daisane defeated Republican Mike Conway in Minnesota House District 14A on November 3, flipping a previously Republican-held seat and becoming St. Cloud's first Somali American state lawmaker.
Daisane owns Blooming Kids Child Care Center, a St. Cloud daycare that has received more than $7.29 million through Minnesota's Child Care Assistance Program since 2018, according to records cited by Alpha News.
But state inspection records reveal years of problems at the taxpayer-funded facility.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services has cited Blooming Kids for repeated licensing violations, including failures to supervise children properly, hazardous objects accessible to children, inadequate staffing qualifications, unclean spaces, and violations involving employee background studies.
An October 2024 inspection also found that children had been subjected to prohibited disciplinary actions.
Additional inspections in 2025 documented problems with infant sleep requirements, CPR and first-aid training, and other childcare safety regulations.
The state imposed a $400 fine for two background-study violations, including allowing an employee to continue working for months after a required background study expired.
Earlier violations were reported as corrected, but subsequent inspections identified additional compliance failures.
Meanwhile, Daisane made expanding childcare assistance part of his political platform.
During his campaign, he called for expanding eligibility for government-funded childcare programs and increasing support for daycare providers.
His own business is a recipient of the taxpayer-funded assistance he wants to expand.
The daycare has also drawn attention amid broader investigations into Minnesota's childcare assistance programs.
In October, Alpha News reported that a former employee of a neighboring business questioned the amount of activity at Blooming Kids, saying they rarely observed children entering or leaving the facility.
Daisane previously ran for the same House seat in 2024 but lost to Republican Bernie Perryman. He returned in 2026 and won with approximately 52% of the vote.
His election places a daycare operator with a documented history of licensing violations in a position to help shape Minnesota's childcare funding and oversight policies.
Daisane has previously acknowledged problems at his facility, citing staffing challenges and efforts to correct violations.
The case brings renewed attention to how Minnesota monitors publicly funded childcare providers and addresses repeated licensing deficiencies.

“We do it very well here”
Utah “Republican” Governor Spencer Cox appeared on Face the Nation to defend his state's universal vote-by-mail system.
This defense comes from a governor with an unusually direct hand in the elections he has run in.
As Utah's Lieutenant Governor from 2013 to 2021, Cox was the state's chief election officer-the official responsible for overseeing voter registration, ballot administration, and the conduct of elections.
That role meant he oversaw the 2020 election in which he himself was “elected”Governor.
After becoming Governor, his running mate and successor as Lieutenant Governor then “oversaw” the 2024 election in which Cox was “reelected.”
In short, the same office that has long administered Utah' unique all-mail svstem also administered the two statewide elections that put and kept Cox in the Governor's office.

Nov 6, 1984: Ronald Reagan won reelection in one of the biggest landslides in American history. He carried 49 states.
His opponent, Walter Mondale, had been Jimmy Carter's vice president. Mondale made history by choosing Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, the first woman on a major party's presidential ticket. In his acceptance speech, he told voters plainly that he would raise taxes, and Reagan wouldn't admit he'd have to.
The economy was booming after a deep recession. Reagan's campaign ran ads saying it was morning again in America.
Reagan's biggest weakness looked like his age. At 73 he was the oldest president to that point, and he stumbled badly in the first debate. In the second debate, in Kansas City, he was asked whether he was too old. He said he would not make age an issue in the campaign, and would not exploit his opponent's youth and inexperience for political purposes. Even Mondale laughed. Mondale later said he knew then he'd lost.
Reagan won 525 electoral votes, still the most ever. Mondale won only his home state of Minnesota, by a few thousand votes, and Washington, D.C.
