Ironically, all of McGilchrist's writing on this subject is from the left hemisphere.
He could have drawn on the right hemisphere to make these points in a pithy and potent way.
William Blake's poetry provides many apposite examples ...

ok so now that i’ve finished my main quest to build an adaptive / 3d living world (nocturne: inkwell).
i’ve decided on my next big project…
an adaptive, collaborative, cloud based operating system built in my programming language (ink).
the core ideas will be:
- the file system is treated like a db
- apps are ‘views’ or ‘projections’ over queries.
- hierarchy and file organisation are less of a thing… semantics, time, relevance are the main ways to surface data
- software begins ephemeral and adapts through use, its shape solidifying as intended workflows are realised.
- the whole os can be driven headlessly by ai so you can use local agents to steer it & create new software.
- it’s permissioned similar to google docs
- version control for the whole os
- seamless spinning up / parallel computing as you need more cpu’s / gpu’s.
- stack compression (where inks compiler optimises data / software / computation towards a goal in parallel)
lets go!!

When it comes to painting, photographic composition utterly destroys the beautiful frieze-like compositions of old master paintings.
All the melody of those frieze-rhythms is trashed.
It's not that photography made painting obsolete: it just destroyed all its linear greatness.
This is a piano performance of almost frightening power.
It's like the pianist unleashes a cyclone.
The recording is muddy, but the climax is annihilating.

If Monet painted 'snow effects' does that mean Michelangelo carved 'mass effects'?
