Resultado: gatos.

It’s kinda crazy to me that we melt sand down, clean it to 99.99999% purity, literal wizards have to draw it slowly into an ingot, we cut it, inscribe a hundred billion little on/off switches on it, and when you run electric current through it you can do basic arithmetic, which when you do enough of it can do any math on the planet, and which describes reality well enough that we can teach it the ontological meaning of words and their distance from each other on a high-dimensional space, and if you ask, it can tell you what word comes next and that apparently is powerful enough that if you do it a hundred billion times it’s the smartest thing to ever exist oh yeah and we use this primarily for email

BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

We’re probably 18-24 months away from this “Her” scene: Theodore: You talking to anyone else? Samantha: Yeah. Theodore: How many? Samantha: 8,316. Theodore (shook): Are you in love with anyone else? Samantha: I’ve been figuring out how to talk to you about this. Theodore (really shook): How many others. Samantha: 641. Theodore (really really really shook): Wha- What are you talking about? That’s insane.
reminder that the film “Her” was set in 2025

Mexican made armoured vehicles of the Ejército Salvadoreño reportedly being transported by US C-130 to Haiti. The extent of US support for the growing Salvadoran military operation is unclear. 1/

My prediction for software engineering over the next 3 to 5 years. AI won't replace software engineers. It'll drive even greater demand for them. A team of 5 experienced engineers using AI will outperform a team of 20 pre-AI. Which will dramatically reduce the cost of building software. I think we'll see Jevons paradox in action. As something becomes cheaper and more efficient to produce, demand for it can increase dramatically. Thousands of software projects that previously weren't economically viable will become worth doing. The winners will be companies, big and small, that behave like Google, Amazon and 3M, with a culture of experimentation, a willingness to try lots of ideas and the discipline to kill their darlings. TL/DR: Smaller engineering teams, more innovation, more software products, and potentially more software engineers than ever. What do you think?

This might sound crazy. But one of the skills you NEED to learn is how to deal with a more and more illiterate society full of emotionally dysregulated people. If you keep getting frustrated every day over how "ďumb" everything/everyone seems, the stress of it is going to wreck your mind.

UPDATE: Around 100 Salvadoran Special Forces troops have deployed to Haiti. More will follow.

3% of “critical” software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month. This is on pace to find another ~100,000 bugs this year alone, adding ~26% more vulnerabilities to the all time total Do you realize how fucking insane that is?
