My 1st time public-speaking in 2 years & it was in front of the entire @uocommonlaw, @DrCiviluOttawa, and not 2, not 3, but all 9 of the @SCC_eng Justices. If you have blinding anxiety about public speaking, I feel you. Here’s me trembling in my seat 2 mins before going up:

We want to reach 10,000 signatures or more - but we can’t do it alone.
Proud to share that traces of my service/advocacy for greater equity, diversity & inclusion in engineering appeared twice in the Fall 2023 edition of Engineering Dimensions, @PEO_HQ's magazine that goes out to ~100,000 engineers in Ontario. digitalityworks.com/Viewers/… (p13 & 56). – at Toronto, Ontario
📣 PhD students: Consider applying to this unparalleled funding, learning, and networking opportunity! Happy to chat about my experience and be a sounding board for anyone interested (just DM me)! Deadline December 1. – at Ottawa, Ontario

While we’re on the hot topic of pronouns and misgendering, the Canadian Bar Review just published my article with @AmySalyzyn on preventing misgendering in Canadian courts. Check it out here - open access!

We went down to Parliament Hill just after 1pm to join the small group of counterprotestors after the very well-attended counterprotest had officially ended. What scared me the most were small children with hate in their eyes holding signs with anti-2SLGBTQIA+ disinformation. – at Ottawa, Ontario

It is okay to be scared right now. It feels like we’re on the precipice of regression on queer rights and so much more. And, if you’re like me, you probably feel powerless to stop it.
But you aren’t. We aren’t. We have been here before, and won. We will win again. Together.

We urge members of the @uOttawa community to exercise particular caution during Wednesday’s anti-Trans and anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests near Parliament.
Few experiences in life come close to meeting Rosalie Silberman Abella. In the documentary Without Precedent, she shared that one of her guiding principles has always been “don’t be popular, be respected.” Thanks @uocommonlaw for inviting me!
Honoured to have spoken about building inclusive communities (TL;DR humility & know what you don’t know) as part of the @uocommonlaw orientation! Thanks to @AmySalyzyn & @samuelsingerlaw for inviting me. Welcome @uOttawa JD ’26 and wishing all students happy start of term! 🎉🎓 – at Ottawa, Ontario
Covered Vancouver, Hong Kong, Taipei & San Francisco in 3 weeks (and heading to Toronto) learning & talking about engineers’ role in the health infodemic, global economies & more. So grateful to @fdnPETF & @NSERC_CRSNG for these opportunities to contribute to my field! – at South San Francisco, CA

Belatedly sharing the special time we had working, learning, and playing on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples—including Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh & Lil’Wat Nations—at the Institute of Engaged Leadership this past week alongside other scholars, fellows & mentors of the 2022 @fdnPETF cohort!
Among the experiences was a visit to the Whistler Mountain Inukshuk to discuss its roots in Inuit culture and its use to symbolize openness and strength, two qualities that many communities across the country are demonstrating as the effects of the climate crisis become increasingly apparent.
Immense thanks to @GranthamBarbara, Monique Smith, @albertyoon7, @JFredericMorin, @johanne_brunet, @VHaufler for visioning the Institute; to Adèle Jackson, Vienna Blum, Catalina Chew, Terri Samson & Alex Tran for ensuring everything unfolded smoothly; to Elizabeth Rivera & Thomas Ledwell for sharing more context and answering our questions; & photographer Joe Alvoeiro & videographer Joana Bezeau for documenting these moments!
Can’t think of a better way to spend the morning than meeting @KarenGrepin, getting to know @lforman better, spending time with @RoojinHabibi, discussing, learning, and demolishing several round of dim sum! Thank you for having me! 🥰🥟 – at Central & Western District, Hong Kong

I’m inviting friends, activists and allies to march with me at the front of the Ottawa Capital Pride Parade on August 27th.
Together, we will lead the parade, marching in the tradition of pride as a protest, demanding queer and trans liberation.

Excited to foray into the intersection of public health, tech & law at @HKUCMEL’s upcoming conference on #SocialListening with @RoojinHabibi! I will speak about engineers’ role—as technology creators—in health disinformation and populism. Thank you to @CalvinWLHo & colleagues for having me!
