If you hit enough Russian data centers, a ton of “American” Twitter accounts suddenly stop posting.
Unironically, this might be an effective strategy to plunge support for Trump, AfD and the likes.

Some high school students came door knocking today. When I saw the materials they were carrying, I said, “I see you’re door knocking for ABC today.” “Yes,” said Boy 1. “We’re here with Lenny Zhou.” “He’s here?” I said. Boy 3 said, “Yes, do you want me to get him for you?”

Let me get this straight... OpenAl was founded as a nonprofit. Open source. For everyone. "To benefit humanity." Then he raised billions of dollars. Then he closed the source code. Then he converted to for-profit. Then he scraped the entire internet without asking anyone. Then he used YOUR writing YOUR art YOUR code to train his models. Now he's on stage saying you'll pay HIM to access intelligence. Just like a water meter. He stole all of your data. He built the product with your work. And now he's going to bill you to use it... Corporate greed has reached an all time high, and they're not even hiding it anymore...
Open AI CEO, Sam Altman: “We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter.”

The CEO of Shopify, one of Canada’s largest corporations, says the poor and the elderly should not be allowed to vote. It’s pretty clear that billionaires are the real problem, not ordinary citizens.

Extremely disappointed to see ABC vote down @Lucyincanada's common-sense motion to study the actual impacts of AI data centres in Vancouver before greenlighting them.

BC just spent half a billion dollars on privazed agency nurses — but can’t find money to value the ones who want full time hours and stay permanently. BC’s 60,000 nurses file a 72-hour strike notice after 67% reject a tentative deal and 98.2% voted yes to

A daily reminder that after Disney paid $0 in federal income taxes, got a $1.4 billion tax refund, made $12 billion in profits, spent $7 billion on stock buybacks and paid its CEO $46 million in compensation last year, it laid off 1,000 workers. Trickle down economics is a scam.
Evangeline Lilly called out Disney after they laid off almost all of Marvel's visual development team. “SHAME ON YOU for turning your back on the people who built the power you are now using to throw them away. Why [does AI] get to steal our brilliance and use it to make executives rich while the artists responsible for feeding their robots go hungry? Disgusting."

A solar farm in Minnesota planted native wildflowers between its panel rows. Five years later, total insect populations tripled. Native bees increased 20-fold. Not only did insect populations boom, soybean fields next to the solar arrays got twice as many bee visits as fields farther away. Two of the things we usually think of as competing turned out to reinforce each other. One study, published in Environmental Research Letters in late 2024, tracked two utility-scale solar sites built on retired farmland in southern Minnesota, where the developer seeded native prairie species between rows of panels in 2018. By 2022, the sites looked less like industrial energy infrastructure and more like remnant prairie. Goldenrod soldier beetles colonized the goldenrod stands. Bumblebees nested in the soil. Monarch butterflies passed through during migration. The wildflower diversity grew sevenfold; insect diversity grew eightfold. This matters because, like it or not, utility-scale solar is going to take up real space. The US is on track to cover roughly six million acres in panels by 2050. The default approach is turfgrass, gravel, or herbicide-maintained bare ground, which is ecologically dead. The Argonne study shows the alternative isn't more expensive or harder to maintain. It's just a different seed mix.

Since Trump was elected, Meta got $21.7 billion in tax breaks & cut 11,600 jobs while Mark Zuckerberg got $34 billion richer and is now worth $237 billion. The idea that corporations will create jobs if you give them tax breaks is a myth made up by CEOs who want more tax breaks.

In 2021 the heat dome killed 619 in one week in BC. The majority were seniors and died alone in their homes. Cooling centres exist because we learned the hard way - extreme heat kills. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Cutting this program is not a budget decision. It is a public health failure. We will restore it. @kareemformayor @vanliberals
This cut will cost you more money. This cut will put more pressure on fire and paramedics. This cut will also force more people outside. This cut will lead to more people needing hospitals. This is bad public policy.

Search is full of ads and wrong answers. Every other email is an ad. Prime Video charges you and shows ads. Paramount? Ads. Peacock? YouTube? Hulu? Ads followed by more ads. Netflix full of ads. Meta and X, every other thing is an ad. Pinterest is nothing but ads. AI is in everything. AI finishes sentences incorrectly and won’t stop. AI reads your email and search history to target you with more ads. Every time you open an app or visit a site there’s an update making it worse. In a hurry? First, click here to agree to terms you don’t have time to read and must accept. You need an account to do that. Change your temporary password. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email and enter that code. Now use a passkey. Your password is too simple to remember. Change it. No, not like that. Now log on. Enter your 2FA code. Check your email for a code… Welcome back! We’ve updated our terms of service and privacy policy (you have none). Subscribe to the site. Subscribe to Netflix. Subscribe to toilet paper. Subscribe to these groceries. Pay a membership fee for the right to subscribe then tip your driver who delivers the subscriptions your membership lets you subscribe to. Time to work? We’ve got to update your laptop and will slow down everything you do until you agree to update. But first, click here to agree. Update installed — your laptop’s broken now. It doesn’t matter, since your boss just replaced you with AI. Go to your phone to complain on social media. Wait, your phone needs an update so we can add more AI. Click here. Oh sorry, your phone can’t handle this update. Now it’s useless. Go get the newest phone. Here’s a text from a friend, an email, a voice mail they left three days ago but you didn’t see until now because of sync problems with the cloud. It’s their GoFundMe. Their MLM. Their Patreon. Never mind, you didn’t respond to their text within 9 minutes and now you’re no longer friends. They blocked you. Make new friends. Download this app to find people in your area. In your neighborhood. On your street. Two doors down from you. Do you know this person yet, we think you’d get along. You need an account to use this app. That username is taken. Enter a password. Not that one, you used it on another site. You need to be connected to WiFi to download the app. Allow the app to connect to other devices on your network. Allow the app to access your contacts, know your precise location, store your credit card details. Oops, sorry, we got hacked now all that info is available on the web. There’s a class action suit. You can join. It’ll take a decade to get your $3.73 share of the ten billion settlement. We’ll send it via PayPal or deposit it to your bank, just tell us those details. Oh no, another hack. That info is circulating now, too. Here’s a spam call, a spam email, a spam text. Why are you angry? Why are you talking about getting rid of your phone? Why don’t you like AI, it lets us make all of this easier? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? This is progress. You’ll be left behind. Do you want to be left behind? Do you???

It’s not a coincidence that the billionaires who donated millions to Trump, and sat front row at his inauguration, are seeing massive benefits from his policies. It’s just shameless corruption.
Meta's tax rate for the first quarter of this year was negative 23%. That's in large part because Zuckerberg's company received a tax benefit from the government of $8.03 billion.
