🚨 PHP warns of two critical vulnerabilities as emergency patches arrive tomorrow
The PHP security team will release updates on October 21 at 14:00 UTC for two vulnerabilities, each rated 9.2 under CVSS v4.0.

Security researchers identified the flaws as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 and described them as remote code execution vulnerabilities reportedly affecting PHP versions 5 through 8.
PHP has not yet confirmed the affected versions, exploitation requirements or fixed releases.

The vulnerabilities were reportedly leaked before their planned disclosure. Researchers said they have not observed active exploitation, while PHP warned it may release the patches early if technical details become public or exploitation is detected.

Administrators should identify PHP installations now and prepare to apply the updates as soon as they become available.

The whole premise of the modern age of mass politics is that states had to make novel concessions to the great majority of people, thanks to the advent of print (and thus coordinated public opinion), guns (and thus levied citizen armies), and industry (and thus concentrated proletarian labor).
This is the material basis on which democracy (and economic redistribution) became possible. Even the “good” AGI scenario obliterates these three things; information would tightly controlled by whoever owns the models, drones replace human soldiers, and robots replace human workers. We’d have no leverage at all. There’d be no need to concede anything to the rest of us—certainly not agency or political power, not any control over our own lives and not even resources. There’d be little downside to simply letting the rest of us starve.
I haven’t heard a good answer from anyone why this wouldn’t happen

One fundamental problem I have with the idea of an AGI utopia is: if no human is needed anymore for labor, military service, etc, and a small number of humans own the “safe” “aligned” robots, why would they bother sharing any of the output with the rest of us?
