Two months ago I opened a laptop to build a flood bulletin for Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi.
Today it is in GitHub's Octoverse 2026 report.
"In Nepal, one developer built a flood bulletin on GitHub Pages with verified information on roads, rescue, weather, and power. It has since grown into Gati, a Nepali-first relay of official disaster alerts that runs on GitHub Pages and Actions."
One person, commodity tools, AI drafts, humans check, GitHub Pages carries it to the world for free. The credit belongs to the families who searched a name, the volunteers who sent notices, and the officials whose verified data every line depends on.
Thank you to Grok @Bot, which pulled numbers out of photographed notices and turned Nepali into English within minutes, every day of the flood.

Scammed online? Nepal now has one number to call: 1247.
The Integrated Anti-Cyber Scam Center (IACSC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Nepal Police is now operating from the new Cyber Bureau building in Samakhusi, Kathmandu.
It runs 24/7 with Nepal Police, banks and financial institutions, payment providers, telecom operators and ISPs working together in one place, so a scam report can reach the bank and the network at the same time.
If you are hit by a cyber scam or digital fraud, or even suspect one, call 1247 at once.
The sooner the call, the better the chance of stopping the money.

UN's Early Warnings for All initiative, led by WMO and UNDRR, aims to protect everyone on Earth with early warning systems by 2027.
Gati helps Nepal's official warnings reach people, each with its source and time, and it aligns with SDGs 11, 13, 1, 9 and 16. Gati is not a partner of the initiative.
It is an effort to carry official warnings the last mile.

Each one shows segment status from Nepal Police and the Department of Roads, active official notices, DHM's 5-day outlook and NDRRMA safety steps.
