What did the Fed accomplish by raising rates today? For the first time in over half a century, a completed prolonged rate-cutting cycle produced HIGHER long-term interest rates. The market has been telling the Fed for 2 years that it had the wrong policy. They finally listened today.
1/5 I have the opposite conclusion. Fed cutting has been a two-year policy error that (hopefully) ends tomorrow with a hike (91% prob now). This chart shows that since the Fed started cutting rates on Sept. 18, 2024, the 10-year yield is UP 1.30% @AnnaEconomist @fundstrat

THIS HAS TO BE THE STORY OF 2026 Ken Griffin’s Citadel was pushing surprise-rate-hike fears just days before the AI trade collapsed and forced 4x-levered Leopold Aschenbrenner's Situational Awareness to unload its book near the lows. Citadel then reportedly bought most of those assets at significantly lower prices knowing that if sentiment deteriorated enough the fund could be forced to sell which makes the entire sequence look absolutely ruthless. This is why the stock market is the greatest game on Earth.
Citadel reportedly bought most of Situational Awareness’s stock portfolio after the forced unwind. So it was warning that the Fed could hike in July while preparing to buy the AI stocks that narrative was helping crush 🤔

A new poll finds 40% of respondents believe in a baseless conspiracy theory that the coronavirus was created in a lab in China. There is zero evidence for this. Scientists say the virus was transmitted to humans from another species. trib.al/m0pJe4b

I’m an old President of the @OxfordUnion and I think he should resign now.
The new President of the Oxford Union, George Abaraonye, celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk. These extreme leftists have no humanity. I'm glad he's being named and shamed. Utterly vile and morally repugnant.

Sign me up. Members of Congress should not be trading stocks. They should be balancing the budget.
Today I have officially and formally submitted a resolution to prohibit stock trading for Members of Congress. No one sent to Congress should be enriching themselves through Wall Street while writing the very laws that regulate our markets. This bill is about accountability, transparency, and restoring faith in the institution of Congress.

The Fed started cutting rates last September with the 30-yr yield below 4%. Today it's 4.9%. The Fed may be done with inflation, but inflation isn’t done with the Fed. If long yields keep rising, they won’t admit a policy mistake — they’ll just bring back QE. In the end, all roads lead to easing.
