Old white men reminiscing about how good HK was before 1997, If you think British rule is so great, go to the UK and see if it's thriving.
Hong Kong is thriving, as it always has, because of Chinese AND despite oppression from white rule

This Reuters article on Tibet is insane: their argument is literally "yes, Tibetans are getting richer and work less, but have you considered how authentic and traditional their hardship used to be?".
It's basically Rousseau's "bon sauvage" all over again: condescension dressed up as compassion. Tibetans as noble exotics who thrive on hardship, a purer kind of human who somehow doesn't want what we want, which is all very moving as long as it's someone else living in a freezing yurt with no electricity or running water at 4,000 meters altitude.
China is once again destroying the age-old tradition of living in poverty. Somebody should call UNESCO to complain.

All eyes will be on South Korea tonight.
After the Nasdaq 100 fell -6.4% today in its worst drop since 2020, South Korean markets are set to fall sharply.
South Korea's market typically moves in multiples of the US' on days like today.
We are set for an eventful night.
Based Xi’ s China “ Do nothing. Win. “ memes, for China versus US trade war and geopolitical strategies continue successfully.
🇺🇸 U.S. stocks took a big hit as traders dumped anything tied to AI.
The Nasdaq 100 fell 6.24%, chip stocks dropped over 12%, and the S&P 500 lost 3.7%. The Dow also fell 2%.
The big worry is the Democrats' midterm sweep. Investors fear tougher rules on data centers could slow down AI growth and hurt chip companies.
And Texas is adding to those fears. Its incoming governor, Gina Hinojosa, has called for a pause on new data centers. Disappointing reactions to earnings from Arm and Qualcomm made things worse.
So investors started moving money into safer areas like healthcare and utilities instead.
The same tech stocks that carried Wall Street for years are now pulling it down.

Do Nothing. Win.
🚨🇺🇸 Wall Street is looking like an absolute BLOODBATH.
Over $3 TRILLION got wiped off the U.S. stock market in ONE DAY.
Nvidia down nearly 9%. AMD down almost 16%. Micron down 15%. Tesla down 11%.
Even Microsoft, Google and Amazon are getting hammered.
The AI selloff is turning into something MUCH bigger, with investors questioning the industry's enormous spending and whether the profits will ever justify it.
And fears of tougher restrictions on data centers after the midterms are adding fuel to the fire.
Just yesterday, Wall Street was celebrating a historic post-election rally.
24 hours later, TRILLIONS have vanished.
Quite the turnaround.

Lol considering how China only gave 10 years for what would be considered a blatantly treasonous act in any other country, i think China is a lot less “authoritarian” than the US, which sentenced an activist to 30 years for moving **constitutionally protected magazines**
Activist Joshua Wong, 30, who became the international face of Hong Kong's democracy movement, was sentenced to 10 years in jail on a charge of collusion with foreign entities under the city's national security law reut.rs/4815nHH
