I've no intention of going anywhere, but BS has pulled out in front as the clear Twitter alternative, so if you want to follow me there, you here.
Pinning this.

This thread is incredible because he doesn’t mention any instances of when the NYT published pieces on Republican ratfuckery in elections that has either been attempted or occurred THIS YEAR.

Vivek Ramaswamy might be the worst possible candidate to run in Ohio and it's unbelievably funny how bad all of Trump's Rust Belt picks are for a guy who supposedly understands the region
Every one of his top candidates in the rust belt is an alienating zillionaire carpetbagger

stevenbombs and the airing schedule for SU in general was really something "you really had to be there" for
like CN was legit sitting on episodes for months and then shit out like 5 of them in a week just to put the show on hiatus again. not to mention all the fucking leaks

J-Street and the DNC Jewish American Council both putting out aligned statements is just damning for Stevens and frankly might be actually be a *boost* for AES
I'm... I'm not sure we're getting these strong of statements otherwise!
What an insane political suicide we watched
Statement from DNC Jewish American Council Leadership regarding @AbdulElSayed
Every single time you mention him to any character that's not Jackie in the prologue they're like "be careful there's something off here"

I think a lot of our political instincts are still off kilter because we had seen a fairly steady trend of Republicans building in-roads with Hispanics that has now been completely obliterated by Trump

Arguments for the polls being right: It matches Trumps approval, early vote shows a severely depressed GOP base, Trump has made dozens of major unforced political mistakes and gas is record high
Arguments for the polls being wrong: SELZER SELZER SELZER BUT SELZER SELZER SELZER

I will go a step further: you cannot make an honest model that looks at the publicly available data and says the Senate is a tossup.
If it misses — and hell, who among us would be surprised if it did? — then the data is wrong.
Maybe that's the case! But it's worth being clear.

You can build a model, give it every living piece of numerical information you can find (partisanship, spending, outside money, raw polling microdata, etc) and backtest the hell out of it, and it gives you...this.
So! We'll see what happens! But this is what the numbers say.

How does that validate progressive critiques of Centrists? Centrists have roundly condemned Stevens and reiterated their support for AES! You're a clown like Silver with your punditry

To win the Senate, Democrats must flip seats in states the president carried by double digits two years before. How often does that happen?
Answer: Not often — only five times throughout all the midterms since 1990! That speaks to the scale of a wave they'll need to do it.

Blogged about NYT/Siena.
I think we've "crossed the threshold." Polls project that Dems will win the Senate. They might be wrong, but that's what they project. No hiding from it tbh.

you sincerely believe BARACK OBAMA is “following Netanyahu’s lead” on NUKING IRAN?
This has been more or less my feeling on things.
Trump narrowly won almost all the swing states in 2024, and Dems won nearly all the Senate races in those states by equally narrow margins.
This year, Dems have opened up enough wide leads for at least 50 states. Very good chance the next bunch all fall the same way, but they'd only need one Bob Casey situation to hit 51 at that point.

I'm not a big defender of public media/academic polls in general.
As I've said, I largely ignore them and rely on higher quality private polls in my reporting.
But there are big misconceptions growing in some quarters that I think it would be good to head off.
A poll with a candidate at or near 50% is very different than a poll with the alleged leader at, say, 45%.
In other words, 50% to 43% is very different than 45% to 38%.
The smaller undecided is a meaningful factor.
And any Republican strategist or pol with access to high-quality private polling knows that their numbers are not meaningfully different than the New York Times polls.
If there is not a Blue tsunami as big as Connecticut, it will indeed be a very large polling failure across many states. But/and that will as true for private Republican polls as for the "liberal" New York Times polls.
The prospect that the polls have moved here in the final week from narrow Democratic leads in many key races to larger leads is perfectly consistent with voter behavior and with the news flow and political environment.
There might not be a Blue tsunami, but tonight there are more reasons to think that there will be than that there won't.
Ouch.
