When shooting a stage, most of it should be on auto pilot. That doesn't mean you shouldn't remain lucid enough to adapt based on what you see. This is especially useful for situations such as movers which you can't time that may dictate different engagement sequences based on where everything is when you arrive to shoot it.

If you can鈥檛 remember what you saw on a particular target in a stage, that is a great indicator that you are essentially shooting in a state of panic. When you are hurried or flustered you are all but guaranteed to make mistakes. All you need to do is put the dot in the middle and call acceptable shots. Everything about a match is designed to distract you from that one simple directive.

We鈥檙e currently planning a range day to give back to dudes in the local area.
Have some pretty sweet prizes and sponsors already.

The commonly stated path to mastery requires 10,000 hours of practice/training. That鈥檚 3 hours per day, every day, for ~10 years. Fortunately for us shooters, it requires nowhere near that much time. Mcnutt is over here placing 97% at nationals after 18 months of work. Is he an anomaly? Yeah absolutely. That by no means is something you should expect, but the point is it is absolutely within the realm of possibility. This is partly why I have little to no sympathy for people who talk big about wanting to improve but can鈥檛 even find 15 minutes a day to devote to it. Yeah I know you鈥檙e busy and have a dozen reasons that are totally legitimate barriers. Everyone is busy and everyone has shit going on. If you want it you have to make the time.
Get some.

As shooters improve they will start tailoring strategy to their strengths. One area where huge gains of performance awaits is shooting on the move, especially when the shooter becomes good enough to consistently hit steel on the move.
Many people from A to G possess the skill to do this on appropriate targets but don鈥檛 for a variety of reasons. Part of getting better at the game is developing the willingness to do things that other won鈥檛 when it makes sense and fits your skill set.

Ipsc nationals is in the books and we have a new junior national open champion baby. He finished 8th at 97% then beat the champion in the shoot off . Couldn鈥檛 be prouder. Great weekend and a great performance from a future world champ.

I had an absolute BLAST getting to shoot the Tennessee state championship with my best friends! I shot like crap as usual, but it didn鈥檛 matter cause the vibes were immaculate!馃

I had an amazing time this past week hanging out with the dry fire gang and shooting Tennessee state. I did not place where I wanted to or reach my goal for the year of top ten at a major( this was my last chance bc its the last major Im going to this year). It was still good data though bc despite 20 seconds of malfunctions and a few brain lags馃槀 I still shot 83.88%. Take away the malfunctions and I would have been on pace which was my goal for the match and the first time I was ever close to that. Squad vibes were immaculate with everyone cheering for everyone

After not shooting since shortly after A5 then pulling my best performance yet, that鈥檚 pretty cool.
My monkey brain also realized that I鈥檓 actually competing and should put some effort into my stages as I鈥檓 trying to win a race.
(Along with a motivational phone wallpaper of @nuttymaxwell bullying me to do better. Thank you Broski 馃槑).
Starting on stage 6: Texas star is my enemy. obviously need to work on weak hand/strong hand more. Also I have no clue why I didn鈥檛 run straight into that last position.
Stage 1: fumbled the starting reload and went for my other mag before engaging the left side first which cost me time.
Stage 2: thought I would do a cool guy scoop draw and failed miserably which ended up costing me time and having to re acquire my dot on the second target. Other than that 1/1 on steel and decent hits I can鈥檛 complain about.
Stage 3: miked the first target entering the second shooting area and my last two targets were super sloppy as I was falling way out of position and had to get rounds off quickly.
Stage 4: wayyy too many Charlie鈥檚 and footwork was like a gazelle on ice skates.
Stage 5: 13-02 classifier. Phone overheated and couldn鈥檛 record it. B class run but the HF for this classifier is dog water and I hate it.
HUGE thank you to @zrtactical for being an amazing partner with amazing products! There guide rod and basepads kick ass every match!
Use code: DRYFIREDAD for 10% off your order!
Also tested out the @weaporize +5 basepad and it ROCKED! dropped on gravel, kicked around, and stepped on during the match and fed like a champ! So far so good. My final thoughts on these will be coming soon!
