How can gap-filling radar strengthen operational #weather coverage? That’s on the agenda at the @nwas National Weather Association #NWAS26 conference in Omaha this week! 📡 ⛈️
Today, Tuesday, October 20, Climavision’s Apoorva Bajaj will present during the 11 a.m. to Noon Central Time General Session, Flood and Radar, VORTEX-USA: “Gap-filling Weather Radar Network in the United States - Usage Within NOAA and NWS Operations”.
The focus: X-band dual-polarization Doppler radar and its lowest elevation scans — providing additional low-level observations to supplement the public radar network and support NOAA/NWS operations.
Join us for a closer look at public-private collaboration in action and be sure and say hello to Apoorva!
Tuesday of #NWAS26 features our first Poster/Showcase Session, the Research Operations Nexus (RON) Meetup, Special Sessions and Workshops!

Thank you to everyone who participated and assisted with the Beyond the Cone table top exercise this afternoon at #NWAS26! I hope it gave you a different perspective and that you’ll build those relationships before the next storm that we’ll weather together.

Great discussion from @NWSBoulder’s Paul Schlatter and @XcelEnergyCO’s Zach Tolby at @nwas about Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warnings. Great coordination between the two on communication and how to forecast/where to implement power shutoffs.
Here’s a peek at what’s ahead for the first full day of #NWAS26!

We all know weather communication has changed. But the shift isn't only about technology. Technology is a means, not the point. The point is giving trusted voices the tools, partnerships and reach to cut through the noise.
Steve Bray will dig into just that at the 2026 @nwas Annual Meeting. Catch his session on Sunday and then visit us at Booth #1 to see Baron Lynx, Baron Weather Insights and Stream24Cast.
The storms ahead, literal and professional, will be weathered the way they always have been: together. See you in Omaha! #NWAS26
We are just days away from #NWAS26, and the Annual Meeting kicks off with the Student & Early Career Session on Sunday!
This is a great opportunity to meet and connect with other students and professionals to learn about the field, explore possible career paths, and much more!
Join us Tuesday evening of #NWAS26 for the RON!
