I have information that the EFCC Director in Ado-Ekiti, under whose command the officers who carried out the operation in Akure this morning are working, has been summoned to Abuja.
Nobody is stopping any law enforcement agency from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities. We all support the fight against crime and financial crimes.
However, enforcement must be conducted professionally, responsibly and with respect for human dignity and fundamental rights. The powers of law enforcement must never become a licence for indiscriminate arrests, harassment, brutality or the disruption of legitimate businesses and innocent citizens.
There must be accountability, professionalism and respect for the people in every operation.
Akure no be Ado!
