“Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”

Did @PtFry know he unwittingly signed up to be BC’s de facto opposition when he ran for mayor?
Okay, @PtFry. I guess you’ll just have to save the day.
Bye, Ken.
If this is the most meaningful thing you’ll ever be involved in… then I guess it’s gonna be all downhill from here? That’s a bleak bleak outlook.
Oh well. Bye.
Outgoing-mayor @KenSimCity reflects on his time in office:
"On my deathbed, I will look back at this time, and I can tell you it will be the most meaningful thing that I've ever been involved in."
Bye, Lisa.

The @bcndp left 2 years of majority gov on the table, in part because of a caucus, cabinet and party that refused to stand up to a sinking leader and start the process of finding a new one. Instead, he drove the party off a cliff.

The Conservatives didn’t win as much as the NDP lost. The Conservatives got 50,000 less votes than 2024. Both the Vancouver and provincial election show a rejection of neoliberalism and that people want bold system-change ideas, not milquetoast centrism.
Uhm, if you can’t be bothered to write your dissertation, why would you want to be in academia? It’s just endless authoring of research papers and grant proposals.
Roughly 30% of PhD dissertations in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in the United States this year contained AI-generated text
Moreover, PhD graduates who use artificial intelligence to help write their dissertations are more likely to work in industry and less likely to enter academia. Those with AI-generated abstracts were 17% less likely to be employed in academia than were graduates who did not use AI.
This working paper analyzed dissertations from more than 226,000 STEM doctoral graduates

Narrow race? @globeandmail, what planet are you on?
David Eby’s surprise B.C. election culminates in narrow race between NDP, Conservatives theglobeandmail.com/canada/b…
WILD.
The win would be the first Conservative Party majority in British Columbia in 98 years and swing Canada’s third most populous province to the political right bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Clearly, the @bcndp has a communications problem. Oh, it may also have a leadership problem.
It goes against the preconceptions of many, but in B.C. Punjabi- and Chinese-language voters are far more likely to vote @conservative_bc than @bcndp.
Chinese: Conservative 47% / NDP 23%
Punjabi: Conservative 40% / NDP 25%
It's counter-intuitive since the NDP assertively promotes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
And the NDP has Punjabi cabinet ministers such as Niki Sharma, who in 2018 lamented "the unbearable whiteness" of the province's elected leaders.
