One good thing about California’s vote by mail system is that we seem to have wiped out the “we’ve run out of ballots” thing. It most often happened in Black and brown neighborhoods.

A reasoned analysis. I would just add that the numbers show that the Kings are better with him on the floor than off if what I heard on 1140 was correct.

I’ve been in France for 10 days to cover the protests. After having lived in France for 3 years in the 90s, I don’t recognize this country anymore. France has become a police state. In none of my three trips to Iran in the past 18 months did I see anything like this.

One of today's most shocking developments was the closure of the Rafah Crossing, halting the entry of humanitarian aid, cooking gas, and commercial goods into Gaza, as well as the exit of patients seeking medical treatment abroad. The reason is reportedly an attempt to smuggle a small quantity of cigarettes into Gaza, where tobacco products have been banned for more than three years. But why should an entire population be punished for this? What do millions of civilians have to do with it? Why should patients, children, and families pay the price? With all the advanced technology available to detect prohibited goods, why shut everything down and deprive people of basic necessities? Gaza is already facing severe shortages of food, fuel, and medicine. This closure will only make things worse,

Iran’s MFA Spokesperson: Until our legitimate and reasonable demands are met [the so-called 7 conditions], there can be no talk of security returning to the region.
NEW: Iran’s top security chief Mohsen Rezaei says US response to Iran’s demands was unsatisfactory He said: “The United States’ response to Iran’s rights and demands was not satisfactory. The US must fully and explicitly address all 7 of Iran’s conditions and comply with them. Only then will the Strait of Hormoz be reopened.”

Okinawa Times replaced its usual back page with all document cases of sexual violence and other grave crimes involving U.S. military personnel in Okinawa, Japan, since 1945. 371 documented cases, but the real number is probably much bigger, as most cases go unreported.

Marilyn Buck is lesser known for her contributions to revolutionary militant cinema but she was also, as I like to point out, a very important founding member of San Francisco Newsreel.

Gaza Chamber of Commerce: Only 200 types of goods enter Gaza out of 10,000, leaving the population unable to meet their basic needs. Just imagine—we have been in need of those 9,800 missing items for three years now. Furthermore, the 200 goods that do enter Gaza are strictly rationed, and their prices are tens of times higher due to Israeli taxes. How much longer must we endure this miserable situation? THIS IS INSANE. He drugged her so that he could shove abortion pills into her mouth and vagina. He made an online pharmacy account in her name so he could secretly have the pills shipped to West Point. She also wanted to keep the baby. He even threatened that he would kill himself if she didn't get an abortion. She refused because she wanted to be a mother, so he drugged her to terminate the pregnancy. He left her there, and when she awoke, she called 911. She said she was in and out of consciousness during the attack, and every time she tried to spit the pills out, he would shove them back into her mouth. He then went on to study at CORNELL and graduated with his BA in emergency medicine (ironic) in 2024. Yes, he was enrolled the same year the gang rape happened at the fraternity. He then enrolled at Columbia, where he is STILL enrolled. But it gets crazier because he asked if the judge could delay his sentencing so he could finish his semester at Columbia, and the judge granted the request. This piece of shit is allowed to complete his education after assaulting a woman. Meanwhile, there is no update on whether she even finished her schooling after the assault because of the mental and physical trauma she experienced. This is ANOTHER case of a university being aware of a student sexually assaulting someone and still allowing them to finish their schooling. @Columbia should have expelled him immediately. Why are these schools protecting disgusting men?

A crucial point from Yemen. There is no guarantee that Ansarallah will continue governing Yemen indefinitely in a post-war scenario. History offers several instances of its leaders expressing that they do not seek exclusive rule either. Yemenis support Ansarallah because it is leading the struggle against Saudi aggression and colonial guardianship. What happens after the war, once the enemy has been expelled, is for the Yemenis themselves to decide, independently and free from foreign interference.
Years of war led by Saudi Arabia have convinced many Yemeni political parties and religious groups that the priority today is not resolving internal political or ideological differences, but restoring Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and right to determine its own future. Many are now willing to support any Yemeni force or party working toward this goal, regardless of its political or ideological identity. But they see Ansar Allah as the only force on the ground pursuing it. That is why some support them despite their differences, while others have at least stopped taking part in fighting them, as they did in the past. Years of war have led many to conclude that differences among Yemenis can be resolved through dialogue and understanding. But an independent future for the country cannot be built as long as its decisions remain subject to foreign intervention and tutelage—whose true objectives, many have come to realize, are quite different. The conclusion many Yemenis have reached is that who governs Yemen is an internal Yemeni matter to be settled through dialogue among its people. But Yemen’s sovereignty, independent decision-making, and right to determine its own future are non-negotiable.
