On this day in 1942, a 2-year-old Jewish girl, born in the Netherlands to German Jewish parents, arrived at Auschwitz with her mother, where they were murdered after selection. Her father perished in 1943. Her name was Irene de Beer.

Under new NHS guidance, male patients who identify as women will no longer be routinely accommodated in female-only wards. The rules also cover toilets and changing facilities, with alternative arrangements where necessary.
Women deserve privacy, dignity, and safety, especially when they are sick and vulnerable.

🌺 None of Harry Patch's old comrades were there to carry his coffin. He had outlived them all.
On 6 August 2009, Harry Patch, the last surviving British soldier to have fought in the trenches of the First World War, was laid to rest aged 111.
Harry had served with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry during the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917. He survived a shell explosion that killed three of his comrades, men whose loss stayed with him for the rest of his life.
At his funeral in Wells Cathedral, Somerset, soldiers from The Rifles carried his Union Jack-draped coffin, accompanied by military representatives from France, Belgium and Germany.
In keeping with Harry's wishes, no weapons were carried. The cathedral bells rang 111 times, once for every year of his remarkable life.
It was a farewell not just to Harry, but to an entire generation.

Their daughter, 2-year-old Wilmien, was shot in the back of the head.
The Potgieter family were brutally murdered on their farm in the Free State, South Africa in 2010.
The father, Attie, had 151 stab wounds. A pathologist said he had been tortured to death. His wife, Wilna, suffered lacerations to her head and was shot in the neck.
Their two-year-old girl, Wilmien, had a cut to her head made with a sharp instrument before she was shot in the back of the head at close range.
When South Africa’s President says, “There are no killings of White farmers in South Africa,” and the liberal media dismisses this as a racist conspiracy, spare a thought for Attie and Wilna Potgieter and their beautiful baby girl, Wilmien.
They deserved so much better.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a Hamas founder, just tore the entire Palestinian victim narrative to shreds.
They sent suicide bombers into Israeli buses, cafes, markets and nightclubs to massacre civilians. Then, when Israel built a security fence, checkpoints and barriers that stopped the slaughter, they screamed “apartheid.”

My reaction:
We are not on trial. They are dragging Israel into a made-up courtroom with a verdict they have already written.
Every time we take the stand to plead our innocence, we hand them the thing they need most: our agreement that the trial is real.
It’s not!
Think about the usual response we give to their allegations:
“Arabs serve as judges on Israel’s Supreme Court.” or, “Look, Arab parties just won a record number of seats in the Knesset,” or, “Arab citizens just turned out in record numbers in the Israeli election,”
All true, and none of it works, because the people pushing this lie and the people so eager to believe it don’t actually care about Arab or Palestinian rights.
If they did, they’d be furious that those in Gaza and Judea and Samaria, where they’re ruled by their own dictatorships, haven’t voted in an election in twenty years.
They’d be outraged that across the Arab-colonized world, nobody gets a real vote at all.
Their outrage is at the one country in the entire region where a Jew and a Muslim or Arab stand as an equal, a model of coexistence: Israel.
This is what they cannot accept.
Not inequality for the Arab.
Equality for the Jew.
