I read JD Vance's post on this site yesterday and at first I was shocked. The Vice President all but admitted that his own administration made a mistake going to war with Iran. I can't think of a sitting VP breaking with his President this publicly in my lifetime.
And at first glance his analysis seems spot on. His first prescription is to end the war. A war that he and the President, until this week, refused to even call a war.
It's hard to disagree with him. But like everything MAGA, the thread of truth is there to hide the larger truth. And the larger truth is this.
Tuesday was the greatest repudiation of a sitting President by voters in the history of this country.
Not a repudiation of a policy. A repudiation of a man.
The message was not only about Iran or Israel or slogans or even the price at the pump. The message was simple.
WE ARE DONE WITH DONALD TRUMP.
We are done with his lies. We are done with the corruption and the gaslighting. We are done with the insanity. We are done with the cruelty.
The message from Mississippi to Iowa, from Kansas to Maine, from North Carolina to Texas, young and old, North and South, East and West, was the same.
Fuck Donald Trump.
This country desperately needs a healthy Republican Party. A party with room for Mitt Romney and Thomas Massie, for Chris Christie and (I can't believe I'm saying this) Marjorie Taylor Greene. A party that puts this constitutional republic above the interests of one man. A party that knows the difference between a Ken Paxton and a John Cornyn, between a Vivek Ramaswamy and a Mike DeWine.
That is the message voters sent on Tuesday, with more ballots cast than in any midterm in American history.
WE ARE DONE WITH DONALD TRUMP.
The sooner the brave members of whatever remains of the Republican Party understand that, the sooner we can begin to heal.
I hope Democrats in Congress heard it too. Voters sent the same message in 2020, and we failed to make it stick. I for one don't think this country can afford 26 more months of this madness before we do the one thing voters just demanded in historic numbers.
Trump needs to leave, and he needs to leave now.
All it would take this January is eleven Republican senators willing to acknowledge the existential threat this lawless President poses to the country and the world. Eleven brave Republicans need to stand up and end this madness. Save their party. Save the country.
It's up to all of us to give them the courage to do what's right.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the next President of the United States…”

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

It was not a Blue Tsunami. It was a cataclysmic Blue nuclear bomb that shook the foundation of the American political landscape to its core.
Some of my thoughts on this midterm:
1) It was the strongest rebuke of the governing party of my lifetime, even moreso than 1994 & 2010. The leftward shift was decisive across all states, regions, demographics.
2) Trump is a failed President. He squandered an impressive coalition through boneheaded policies. A deeper underlying problem that resonated with voters was Trump's shameless grift, using his office to enrich his family & friends while failing to focus on the bread and butter issues affecting the average American. This jarring disconnect fueled voter anger, galvanizing lower propensity voters to go for Dems. Simultaneously, Trump's failure to deliver on his core promises led to the exodus of young men from his coalition (especially young working class White & Latino men).
3) Consequences of this midterm:
A) Anyone who worked for Trump is DOA for 2028 election.
B) GOP will be locked out of Senate control for quite some time; this means Alito & Thomas will be replaced by liberal judges. Roberts also probably retires soon. SCOTUS will be remade, along with lower level federal judiciary. One of Trump's few lasting legacies will be crushed.
C) Dem state legislatures will ruthlessly redistrict; huge implication beyond 2030
D) Dems will target tech oligarchs, especially Elon, crypto bros, and anyone who explicitly helped Trump. We will see this play out in Texas, where the incoming governor & her administration will no doubt target Elon's businesses that are headquartered in the state.
E) Trump will move left on policy to make deals with a Dem congress as his priority is in getting "wins" rather than any overaching ideological agenda. Another motive will be to avoid conviction as Dem House will invariably impeach Trump.
Go watch ANDOR.
This is the moment.
ANDOR rewatches are surging following the #BlueWave2026 in the Midterm Elections.
The same themes of resistance, empowerment, and determination that anchor the acclaimed Star Wars series powered millions of people to vote in an election to change the course of the U.S.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

It was gas prices.
It was the war.
It was also the corruption.
The incompetence.
The tariffs.
The playing nice with Russia.
The impression of cruelty.
The overly aggressive deportations.
The accidental arrests of American citizens who were Hispanic.
The arrogance.
The ballroom.
The reflecting poll.
The golf courses.
The arch.
The Qatari 747.
The aggressive redistricting push.
The threats against enemies.
Trump is a trust fund baby New York con man.
For the love of all things holy, GOP needs to move radically towards the center, and do a complete rebuild.
A centrist GOP by 2030, 2032 will be a good thing for America.
Trump betrayed his own cult and squandered one of the biggest political opportunities in modern history.
He inherited the House, Senate, a 6-3 Supreme Court, a popular vote victory, and a sweep of every swing state. Republicans were winning the culture war. He had an actual mandate and a base ready to follow him anywhere.
Instead, he dragged us into a pointless war nobody wanted, gave us disastrous tariffs, higher costs, militarized policing, DOGE, crypto grifts, pardons for criminals, Epstein stonewalling, attacks on the Constitution, blatant self-enrichment, and virtually zero meaningful legislation.
Meanwhile, he's posting AI slop, obsessing over a ballroom nobody gives a fuck about, botching the Reflecting Pool, and picking fights with our allies.
And America is clearly exhausted. Many Republicans are tired of the narcissism, childish name-calling, nonstop vitriol, and manufactured hysteria about Democrats wanting to “trans your kids.” People want their lives to get better. They want affordability, stability, and some semblance of normalcy. They don't want to hear about John Husted's ass.
I see this as a nationwide rejection of what MAGA has become. It's joever.
An absolutely generational bag fumble.
