🍎 Stay safe while heading back to school 🍎
Calgary students are headed back to school next week & we want to remind parents, students & all Calgarians how to stay safe.
🚨 General safety - parents & guardians should make sure children know:
🔹 Their full name, age, address & contact numbers (home, work & cell)
🔹 How to call 911 in emergencies & 403-266-1234 for non-emergency police help.
🔹 To follow the same route to & from school.
🔹 Safe play areas & places to avoid.
🔹 Key traffic signs & signals.
🔹 To ensure any valuables are secured in their pockets or bags & are not visible.
🔹 Not to talk to, accept items from, or go anywhere with strangers.
🔹 Never to reveal they’re alone or that parents/guardians aren’t home.
🔹 That uniformed police officers are safe & trustworthy.
🔹 To seek help from a trusted adult or police officer if they feel unsafe.
🔹 If they have a cellphone, important numbers should be saved in it.
🚨 Traffic & pedestrian safety - Increased activity on roads & sidewalks, especially near schools, can pose risks for both drivers & pedestrians.
All Calgarians are reminded to:
🔹 Slow down in playground zones: these zones have a maximum speed of 30 km/h from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
🔹 Avoid distractions: While driving, do not: use electronic devices, read printed material, or engage in activities that will take your eyes off the road.
🔹 Stop & park only in designated zones: do not stop or park: within 5 metres of a crosswalk, in “No Stopping” zones, or in designated bus zones. Do not double park.
🔹 Never leave your car running & unattended.
🔹 Avoid jaywalking: Use marked crosswalks & activate pedestrian crossing signals wherever possible.
🔹 Be aware of surroundings: as a pedestrian, even if you have the right of way, look & listen before crossing the road. Avoid walking with headphones or earbuds.
🔹 Watch for buses: Always be alert for children around a stopped school bus.
ℹ️ Calgarians can expect to see an increased presence from the @cityofcalgary Traffic Safety Team around schools.

Calgary’s water supply is in a critical state.
If we do not reduce our water use, we're at risk of running out.
All outdoor water use is banned under Stage 4 Water Restrictions. In addition, Calgarians are asked to restrict their indoor water use.

If you can walk up to the Deputy PM and call her those names yet still claim there is no freedom in Canada, I would suggest trying that with Putin. This behaviour does not make me think ‘I wonder what I can learn about vaccine science from this man.’
Just getting uglier as it progresses. This will be a case study in the not too distant future in business and leadership programs of what not to do.
More horrific behaviour from Canada’s media/telecommunications giants. Time to disband these cartels for the benefit of Canadians.
Well, this is the most disgusting and appalling thing I’ve seen in a while. Can’t say I’ve ever supported this business, but I’ll be sure that I don’t ever do so in the future. Revolting. This is why Pride is so important.

With millions of Canadians without access to phone and wireless communications, commerce grinding to a halt, 911 centres unreachable, have we finally reached the point where we do something about Canada’s telecommunications giants and their price gouging monopolies? #rogersoutage
This reads like an April Fools day post. But it’s not. 🤦🏻♂️
