The European liberal establishment assumes that when the levers of state (the bureaucracy, the media, the courts, etc) in their hands, it is the embodiment of the rule of law and neutrality. But when they are in the hands of anybody else, it is 'politicisation'. Therefore, they believe, using tactics that are more common in authoritarian, tin pot third world countries is entirely justified to restore the previous 'neutrality' (i.e. the political control of the establishment). This is exactly what we saw in the early days of the Tusk regime, and what we have seen in Hungary. It is also what we should expect in Britain if ever a populist party takes the reins of state and dares to staff it with likeminded people, just as the liberal establishment had their people in key positions.
Mal alle beruhigen: Es gibt keinen Staatsstreich in #Polen .

I think voting undermines his temporal authority. It implies he is still under the sovereignty of the US.

"@scumitchell , wait for your next contact on the road to Dushanbe."
Legend.
The guy who solved all this died peacefully in his bed at 74.
Guy Debord argued that modern life was increasingly being replaced by representations of itself. In 1994, he died by suicide. David Foster Wallace proposed sincerity as an escape from recursive irony. In 2008, he died by suicide. Mark Fisher wrote about the ghosts of futures that never arrived. In 2017, he died by suicide.
Now it is our turn to solve postmodernism.

He's literally me.
hearing for the first time that novelist Patrick O'Brian (of _Master & Commander_ fame) invented much of his own biography,
didn't know how to sail & had no practical experience doing it, wasn't Anglo-Irish gentry but rather English working class, barely educated, concealed his early marriage...
Everything he learned about sailing & the 19th c was from obsessive research & reading books.
O'Brian comes out to be a far more puzzling, eccentric, twisted, anachronistic figure who lived in isolation on a small hobby farm in France, deeply secretive, insecure, brooding, exiled, aloof, yet TOTALLY COMMITTED TO THE BIT.
I like him even more now (am currently reading Master & Commander)
