Thank you to all the fans for supporting our sport in 2026. Looking forward to Opening Day and the first pitch of 2027.
… Go Reds!
No disrespect but they are the 2005 White Sox
A forgettable team with little star power dominating October and sweeping another forgettable team.
I don’t think anyone outside of White Sox fans say “Man that 2005 White Sox team was legendary”
Konerko was elite though

The MLB playoffs likely end tonight and I think I speak for all of us when I say that this was the most boring and auraless playoffs of all time.

MLB went 24 straight years without a repeat until the Dodgers in 2025. No other league has come close.
Cubs ended 108 years.
White Sox 88.
Rangers first title.
Royals, Nats, etc. all got theirs.
Salary caps didn’t magically create more different champs. Baseball’s October chaos did.
Parity exists.
Look past the payroll spreadsheets.
The LONGEST RUNNING PLAY in 8 years under Zac Taylor is the Joe Burrow 47 yard rushing TD against the Giants in 2024.
Yes, this is unfortunately a real stat.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Bengals had a 55-yard rush by Trayveon Williams in Jan 2021 under Zac Taylor, longer than Burrow's 47 yards in 2024.

I’m once again informing those unaware that Zac Taylor holds a UC record as OC for most consecutive quarters without a touchdown.
Same guy. Without Burrow, Chase, and Higgins.

Joe Burrow has never taken a snap, trailing after the 2-minute warning, and won a game.
Caleb Williams has done it 8 times since the calendar turned to 2025.
Andy Dalton did it in his 5th NFL game.

The only players in MLB with 5+ fWAR and 25+ home runs:
- Pete Crow-Armstrong
- Yordan Alvarez
- Shohei Ohtani
- Elly De La Cruz ⚡️
Well before Elly even got to the big leagues, credible people who write and talk about baseball described Elly as having the kind of talent and tools that could help him perhaps be the best player in the game.
Right then, the expectations for him became unreasonable and I’ve heard it in the discourse about Elly since his debut.
He’s not the best player in the game. He’s merely really, really good. And he will likely only get better. He’ll be extraordinarily coveted when he hits free agency.
The criticism he gets is based on expectations set by outsiders. And so every mistake, flub, and flaw gets discussed, dissected, and argued over unlike those of any other player on the team.
And yes, there are moments when his play can be frustrating.
They’re outweighed by moments of excellence and from a a statistical standpoint, he’s an excellent player. Productive and reliable. The Reds are lucky to have him and I love watching him.
He plays hard. He plays hurt. He plays everyday - probably to his detriment. By all accounts he’s a terrific teammate. He seems to take his craft seriously.
The Reds have a myriad of problems. Anyone who includes Elly’s performance on the list of them either isn’t really paying attention or is asking him to live up to an impossible standard.
For some reason, it feels like the season Elly De La Cruz is having is going severely under the radar.
He currently ranks among MLB SS:
1st in OPS
1st in wRC+
2nd in WAR
4th in HRs
4th in SBs
10th in OAA
He’s 4th in all of MLB in WAR among position players.
Unfortunately, it feels people dwell way too much on the negatives with Elly, without appreciating what we’re watching. We’ve seen his aged 21-24 season thus far, and everyone is ready to declare him a finished product or underwhelming.
I beg of #Reds fans to start appreciating Elly for who he is, and how he impacts the game, rather than jumping to trash him every mistake he makes.

Elly De La Cruz’s 2026 shortstop ranks:
AVG: 3rd (.280)
SLG: 2nd (.493)
OPS: 1st (.852)
wRC+: 1st (132)
fWAR: 2nd (5.2)
He’s still just 24 years old ⭐️

Sports are fun, but they’re also a beautiful tool to teach young people valuable life lessons. Like “Work hard”, “Support your teammates”, and “Sometimes life is rigged in favor of those with more resources.”
