When a policy position becomes a cultural commitment, new information often just hardens that position. Policy debate becomes more religion than data. From a great paper on the topic: Essentially, cultural commitments are prior to factual beliefs on highly charged political issues. Culture is prior to facts, moreover, not just in the evaluative sense that citizens might care more about how gun control, the death penalty, environmental regulation and the like cohere with their cultural values than they care about the consequences of those policies. Rather, culture is prior to facts in the cognitive sense that what citizens believe about the empirical consequences of those policies derives from their cultural worldviews. Based on a variety of overlapping psychological mechanisms, individuals accept or reject empirical claims about the consequences of controversial polices based on their vision of a good society. openyls.law.yale.edu/server/…

The Cursor Pro plan at just $20/mo is insane value. With Grok 4.5 now included as a first-party model, I don’t think there’s a better deal available right now.

Zero out taxes for the bottom half of earners. A nurse in Queens shouldn’t be sending money to Washington. Washington should be sending her an apology.
Jeff Bezos says taxes for lower salary workers are too high: "It's kind of absurd that we're doing this ... We shouldn't be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington."

In Elon's school, there is only one engineering department. You learn anything and everything from zero to one needed to build a civilization—from underground tunnels to space, from CAD to manufacturing, from machine learning to materials science, from transportation to medication. You hurry from one class to another, and the school runs 24/7. There is no tuition, but you pay with your grit. There are no grades or graduation. You are measured by merit and competence, and you may stay as long as you can take it. The school has produced many outstanding dropouts who later charted their own successful paths using the skills they learned. Many of the best are still taking classes here because there are no classes like this anywhere else. When the machine learning community focuses on how to generalize a model for all types of skills, well—we have one for humans: a true final exam of humanity. Will you take it?
