By the late 1980s, concern was growing that #fossilfuel use was heating the planet. An #Exxon executive sent a memo to colleagues warning: if there were a global consensus on addressing #climatechange, "substantial negative impacts on Exxon could occur."

A real take-down of @skdh by @AndrewDessler . The latter is on fire, he rarely writes with such passion!
The argument is clear, though: Hossenfelder has made an attack on the science based on her prejudices, not on the facts.
A good read:

So, let me flag a few things, traitor.
1. "European security architecture" is a phrase the Kremlin uses. We already have one: it's called NATO.
2. You conflate (as you always do) the victim of this war with the aggressor. The aggressor is Russia.
3. "Root causes" is Russian for "do it our way" and you know it.
4. Nothing a word about Russian withdrawal, the occupied territories, POWs or deported children. Weird.
5. Lavrov wrote this for you.
6. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia, and fuck you.
President Trump today advanced an important discussion with several European leaders about the need for a broader European security architecture that can help establish the conditions for lasting peace.
Building on his leadership and the substantive work undertaken this week in Brussels with Ukraine, NATO, and our European partners, @SEPeaceMissions and I wanted to share some of the objectives guiding our ongoing discussions.
For more than 30 years, Europe and Russia have struggled to establish a sustainable security framework. Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace.
Our objective is to develop practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment.
We are exploring five principal goals: permanent security consultations, reliable crisis communications, greater military transparency, reciprocal measures to reduce escalation risks, and an enduring framework for long-term European security and stability.
Any arrangements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent decision-making of every nation. Each country will retain authority over its own security and alliances, and no country would have a veto over another’s sovereign choices. NATO will remain central to European collective defense, and this initiative would build upon existing institutions and commitments.
We will continue consultations through the Shell Bay format with Ukraine, NATO, the EU, and our European partners, expanding engagement to ensure that all relevant perspectives and ideas are considered. We will also engage Russia as part of the peace negotiations.
Next week in Abu Dhabi, the United States will convene the first trilateral peace discussions with Ukraine and Russia since February. All parties remain intensely engaged in preparing for substantive and productive negotiations. We will consult closely with our European partners on the sidelines and, if progress is made, aim to move toward a broader multilateral format with their direct participation.
These ideas continue to evolve, and we welcome thoughtful input. Creating the right structure will be critical to ending this war and transitioning from conflict toward conditions that make possible a durable peace.
This is difficult, detailed work. There are no easy solutions. But the opportunity to help end this devastating war and build a foundation for a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Europe for generations to come makes it a challenge well worth undertaking.
We will see how these discussions develop and continue working intensively with all parties toward President Trump’s objective of a comprehensive and lasting peace.

“For two years, it had been that easy to get what they wanted. Tech billionaires and their companies donated money to Mr. Trump’s favored causes, including the White House ballroom. Then on Tuesday, the American public delivered a rebuke of the tech industry’s agenda. Overnight, the billionaires’ political alignment with the president may have become a liability.”

Breaking: China’s CO2 emissions fell 3.1% in Q3 of 2026, the largest drop since 2022 Covid lockdowns. High oil prices and EVs pushed down oil demand, clean energy growth displaced coal power, steel and cement emissions fell, and coal-to-chemicals industry growth kept slowing.

A 485-million-year history of Earth’s surface temperature" Judd et al 2024 science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…
"Atmospheric CO2 exerts a dominant control on GMST, both today and in the geologic past"
Washington Post article interviewing Judd et al:
archive.is/2024.09.20-163739…
"At no point in the nearly half-billion years that Judd and her colleagues analyzed did the Earth change as fast as it is changing now"
“In the same way as a massive asteroid hitting the Earth, what we’re doing now is unprecedented.”
"swift and dramatic temperature shifts were associated with many of the world’s worst moments — including a mass extinction that wiped out roughly 90 percent of all species and the asteroid strike that killed the dinosaurs."
“We know that these catastrophic events … shift the landscape of what life looks like,” Judd said.
“When the environment warms that fast, animals and plants can’t keep pace with it.”

Fun Fact: We know the history of Earths CO2 levels by isotopes in Ice Cores. FACT
What's your explanation as to why CO2 levels were between 4K-9K PPM Millions of years ago and the temperatures didn't change drastically?
This proves that CO2 levels don't change the temperature of the earth as much as you climate change freaks make out. The Sun is and always will determine the temperature of the earth. CO2 levels are too minute to have any large effect. Past CO2 levels prove this.
Prove otherwise or keep your FACTS to yourself!

Fun fact: we know exactly how much CO2 we emitted, because we know how much fossil fuel was dug up and burned. It is twice the amount of the measured increase in the air. Ocean & forests haven taken up about half. So nature is a net carbon sink, fossil fuel the net source.
