updated fanfic sticky:
ao3: archiveofourown.org/users/pl…
squidge: squidgeworld.org/users/plume…
personal archive: amaranthite.net/archive/
my wife and i rarely overlap fandoms and i don't expect her to read mine either lol (now when she publishes original that'll be different!!)
saw someone ask their tl for copies of their own fics so they could keep working on the fics... there's something very wrong with people who write directly into ao3

no hate to op but genuinely none of the people asking this question are old enough/knowledgable in fandom history enough to remember WHY fic drives exist. they’re literally created to avoid fic purges from decimating fundamental texts to the fandoms

Meeting you has become one of the most precious memories of my life💎 I’ve looked up to The Warning for a long time. I love who you are as people, the sound of your instruments, your vocals and harmonies, your performances, and, of course, your music🤘🏻♥️ As a drummer, there are so many things I relate to about you. One of the biggest is that you started playing instruments when you were around the same age I did, and you’ve continued making music and playing in a band for all these years🔥 Even from afar, I’ve followed your journey on social media and watched how hard you’ve worked over the years. I think what you’ve accomplished is truly incredible. You’ve given me so much strength, inspiration, and motivation🥲🙏 You’ve performed in Japan before, and I secretly went to every single one of your shows as a fan🫣 I was so happy when you first came to Japan, and I’m truly grateful that you’ve come back to perform here again🇯🇵🔥🔥 I’ve always had a dream in my heart. Someday, when Ave Mujica and The Warning finally share the stage, I don’t want our first performance together to be in Japan. I want Ave Mujica to travel all the way to Mexico so we can share the stage with you there…!! Because I love and respect you so much, I want to be the one who travels all the way to your home country to meet you and perform alongside you😭🙏 But you came back to Japan before that dream could come true! So next time… I really hope we can make that dream come true!! Please!! 🙏🙏 I truly want Ave Mujica to go to Mexico and share the stage with you🇲🇽 I also want to keep working even harder so that Ave Mujica can go on a world tour someday🌏 Thank you so much for giving me such a precious and unforgettable experience🫶 I will support you and continue to look up to and respect you for the rest of my life❤️🔥

for a while now i think younger fic writers have seen fanfic as a 1:1 exhange between a provider and a consumer and not community sharing. a lot of problems branch off that but that's the core mindset that is killing good fic/fandom

Earlier today, we detected evidence of a security incident on #AO3. We are still in the early stages of investigating. No AO3 data has been deleted. All your works, bookmarks, kudos, etc., are safe. Learn more at otwstatus.org/incidents/g12j…
We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/
omg the "wtf is squidge lol" "i'm not going there" comments are raising my blood pressure. u people need to start respecting squidge and squidgeworld which is part of (slash) fanfic history like this

the download button is an upfront feature of ao3 😭 but even if it wasn't, did fangirls not print out html pages from angelfire and put them in binders to share with friends in the early 00s. i sure did
man WHYYYYYY
PROTON SAYS 2026 IS ITS LAST YEAR HIRING ENGINEERS
Proton is the Swiss company behind Proton Mail and Proton VPN. It sells privacy as the alternative to Big Tech.
CEO Andy Yen wrote it to staff in Slack: "This will be the last year that we hire engineers." Starting next year, he said, Proton hires product managers to build things with AI.
The CTO says AI wrote 90% of Proton's code in October, and a staffer who asked for security testing was told it was "loser thinking." Employees now face re-interviews on their AI use.
An internal document says Proton is behind its revenue target and calls the company "underperforming." 🤔
