Apple Music’s new icon isn’t winning everyone over.
Apple has replaced its iconic red branding with a minimalist black-and-white design, but the change has sparked criticism across X and Reddit.
Many users feel the new icon looks generic and lacks the personality that made Apple Music instantly recognizable. Others believe the cleaner design is a welcome change.
Interestingly, the debate isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about removing a familiar visual identity that users have associated with Apple Music for years.
Apple may be embracing minimalism, but is it losing some of its brand personality in the process?
What’s your take: The old red icon or the new monochrome design?
Samsung’s next big display innovation could go beyond the Ultra.
Samsung is reportedly preparing to expand its Privacy Display technology beyond the Ultra lineup with the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro.
According to UBI Research, both the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra could feature next-generation M16 OLED panels with integrated Privacy Display technology.
It limits side-angle screen visibility and could let users enable privacy protection for selected apps and notifications.
The standard S27 and S27+ are reportedly missing the feature.
This could make the Pro a compelling choice for buyers who want premium features without the Ultra.
Googlebook detachables are coming soon.
At Android Dev Summit 2026, Google confirmed that Googlebook will expand beyond clamshells and convertibles to include detachable form factors.
The first is expected from Lenovo (detachable keyboard, kickstand, and Glowbar). The OS still has limitations though — the homescreen and app tray remain landscape-only for now.
Googlebook OS is moving onto tablets, raising questions about the future of high-end pure Android tablets.
Apple is preparing a major iPad refresh for the first half of 2027.
According to Mark Gurman, the lineup includes:
• New entry-level iPad
• First OLED iPad Air
• iPad Pro with vapor chamber cooling
No new iPads are expected in the second half of the year.
The OLED Air would finally close one of the biggest gaps with the Pro, while the vapor chamber should let the Pro sustain higher performance without throttling.

Google is rolling out an update to make Gemini for Home more reliable.
The update fixes several frustrating issues, including false voice recognition errors, music transfer problems between rooms, YouTube TV playback commands, and alarms or timers unexpectedly dropping to zero volume.

Samsung’s One UI 9.5 could bring several meaningful upgrades to Galaxy phones.
Leaked internal builds point to a native App Lock, App Cast for phone-to-laptop mirroring, smoother animations, a redesigned Camera app, improved fingerprint setup and AI-powered search in the Phone app.
Samsung is also reportedly working on custom widgets, a dedicated satellite connectivity hub and Galaxy Glasses integration.

The iPad mini 8 has a smaller battery than its predecessor, but Apple is promising the same battery life.
According to Apple’s newly published EU energy label:
• iPad mini 8: 4,900 mAh (18.9 Wh)
• iPad mini 7: 5,034 mAh (19.3 Wh)
That’s a 2.7% reduction in battery capacity.
Interestingly, the new model features an 8.5-inch OLED display and Apple’s A20 Pro chip. The more efficient chip could help compensate for the smaller battery, while OLED can reduce power consumption when displaying darker content.
Apple still rates both models for up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing or video playback.
The interesting part is that Apple has managed to make the iPad mini 8 thinner and lighter while maintaining its advertised battery endurance.
Real-world battery performance will ultimately show how much of an efficiency improvement Apple has achieved.
Samsung could bring back the under-display camera for the Galaxy Z Fold 9.
According to tipster kro, Samsung is reportedly considering bringing back the technology it abandoned after the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Interestingly, Apple has already adopted the technology with the iPhone Duo, despite Samsung abandoning it after the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
However, Apple’s first-generation implementation has faced criticism for poor image quality, highlighting the challenge of hiding a camera beneath a foldable display.
Samsung’s reported comeback could signal renewed competition to deliver a truly uninterrupted inner display.
The big question: Can Samsung improve the technology where both companies still face compromises?
