1117 officially designated heritage! The community will wait to see if the owner appeals. This building was built in 1902 and represents an important part of West Queen West and Canadian heritage, functioning as a post office until 2020. Big thank you to @BravoDavenport’s office.

Great news for our community. Thanks to @qwCommunityPost and everyone who spoke up in favour of recognizing this building's importance. Now, we need to keep up the pressure to ensure this site serves the public good, as it has for decades. #DavenportTO

Council votes 22-0 to adopt every item on the agenda except two: the refugee shelter in Willowdale and heritage designation for Postal Station C at 1117 Queen West. Pretty good turnout for a mid-August meeting.
WE DID IT!
Passed unanimously: Notice of Intention to Designate under part 4, sec. 29 of Ontario Heritage Act
Thank you to all of the community members for their heartfelt support.
Next step: Designation at City Council.

Once we lose public lands we never get them back.
Let's save #1117QueenWest and #OntarioPlace.
We have to stand up to politicians that should be looking out for our interests, but instead are doing back-room deals and profiting.
Thank you @JohnLorinc and @shawnmicallef for trying to save #OntarioPlace. Privatizing the public lands is a dubious act and @fordnation @JohnTory forgot to consult with us, the people who live here.
"We see this as being a potential focal point to provide space for small and medium-sized arts and cultural organisations to regain their footing after the pandemic, and really add to the vibrancy of our neighbourhood." cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/c…
Thank you, @maritstiles and to all those who wrote in.
Stay tuned Monday at 9:30am for the committee decision.
Along with @qwCommunityPost & many #DavenportTO residents, I wrote the board to urge them to recognize the importance of this bldg, and the potential it has for our arts community, for affordable housing, and more - if we keep public land in public hands: assets.nationbuilder.com/ond…
