Thank god we can find and intercept lost hikers as they mistakenly run away from rescue in dense forest!
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

tech guy here! have you even considered the rational utility of an AI death machine hivemind swarm that can recognise bodies and see if any dissident malcontents are running for their lives? or do you just hate building?

this is the most boomer take on things
Wake up. Every profession deemed white-collar, the middle class dream, is about to be decimated by AI, at a much faster pace than anticipated, with monstrous social consequences.

The continued violence and hatred directed against innocent Ahmadis across Punjab are a matter of grave concern. The attack on Mr. Hamid is not an isolated incident. In recent days, a disturbing series of incidents targeting Ahmadis has further heightened fears for their safety.

Imaan Mazari spoke up when PPP workers were beaten by Islamabad Police. She defended Maryam Nawaz when she was arrested and subjected to misogynistic abuse. She defended PML-N’s mandate while openly saying she disliked Nawaz Sharif. When the establishment came for PTI, she defended their rights too. Today she and Hadi are in jail over tweets and a peaceful protest for missing Baloch students. And who's in government? The same PPP and PML-N she went to bat for. They cut a deal with the establishment that once locked them up, and keeping quiet about Imaan and Hadi is part of the price.

The way things work in Pakistan sports, it will not be surprising if Razaullah is made the captain of hockey team after this performance in his first test match

Just when it starts to get boring, we bring out someone young and exciting. Pakistan team is to cricket what female gender is to Leonardo DiCaprio

"educated" south asians are hands down the worst breed of immigrants. becoming mouth piece for far-right political parties where ever they go
Germany, for a long time, had adopted a need-based immigration policy as opposed to a merit-based one. This meant a scientist/technologist had to jump through multiple hoops, regularly and repeatedly, so that they can live and work freely. I had to go through the entire residence permit process from scratch every time my contract was extended at the Max Planck Institute. Whereas if you claim, that you NEED to be in Germany, otherwise your life would be in danger you would be put on an accelerated path to residency. From a purely humanitarian lens this made perfect sense. Most empathetic people would agree to this worldview - of course you SHOULD prioritize people whose lives are in danger. A tech worker shares a very transactional relationship with Germany. Germany gets higher taxes and the expat gets access to good infrastructure. It is a dry, monetary relationship bereft of any emotion. There are two reasons why it was hard to argue for a merit-based immigration policy: 1. The Left believes in the blank slate theory: there is no such thing as inherent talent, if you just put people in the right system, ANYONE can become a doctor, engineer or a scientist. Why not take in millions of need-based immigrants and turn them into high functioning workers? It is hard to argue against this without looking like an absolute asshole. 2. A need-based immigration policy is morally more appealing. Period. Again you cannot argue against without looking like an asshole. And remember, during peak woke this meant not just social shaming but potential loss of livelihood, especially if you were in academia. Funnily enough, most legal immigrants themselves prefer a merit based system. In large part because now that the Left has successfully blurred the lines between legal and illegal immigrants, many people who came here after through a bajillion hoops get caught in the crossfire. And to them, it seems doubly unfair. A lot of what the word has come to today, could have been avoided by simply having adults in the room willing to state the uncomfortable truths.

Q: How do you explain the fact that one in five young people in Germany is thinking about leaving the country? Merz: Well, that still means four out of five don’t.

May be the reason Sky dropped the interview with IK's sons is to distract their viewers from all the entertaining cricket Pakistan has been playing in England

Irrespective of the where you're on the political spectrum, the obsession with "sazish" is a must belief for every Pakistani
I know almost nothing about cricket — and even less about the politics of who gets airtime on global sports channels. But when Sky dropped an 18-minute interview with @ImranKhan'sons during the lunch break of the Pakistan-England Test at Lord’s… it didn’t feel random. It felt like the first public move of a much bigger game.Coincidence? Calculated timing? Pressure play? What’s your read?

Over the years I have posted about countless crimes against women, the hashtags, the horrors - today I’m posting because my cousin Hina Javed was murdered in her in-laws home yesterday. She’d been married less than 10 months. Pray for her, pray for justice. Demand justice.
