I think it's a good plan and I'd build it, with four correction and nine changes to how it's built.

My AI dev setup has gotten so wild I'm not compute constrained again.

I'm carrying change around again. When someone finishes a sentence for me I give them a coin and thank them for performing the inference to generate those tokens for me. Public service, creating opportunities to teach non-technical folks about ai.

The most biggest misconception on the planet is that AI productivity has no asymptote.

How far beyond system-of-record will system-of-record businesses build to stay relevant in the AI era? Founders and investors in AI products are all betting this line. Not only how far -- but how successful? The smart bet isn't a blanket on all system-of-record business. Each is unique. How far/successful will service now, salesforce, sap, oracle, workday, intuit, etc. be as they navigate out into AI products...

Founders, no one is coming to save you. The human habit is to pattern match, to take in new information and assign it to the best-fitting well-known bucket asap. Your vision needs to be so spectacular and clear that you break that process in your audience. Investors will not pull the vision from you. Human nature is to do the opposite. I'm learning this live; was bucketed here with others yesterday when I failed -- spectacularly -- to present the vision.
Most of my pitches today were some version of: We talked to a lot of companies and they all wanted more ai so we hacked together some projects in OpenAI/claude and charged them. I want to scale it. Congratulations you have started a consulting company. All different workflows in different industries. This is not venture fundable. They are build once sell once. Venture is build once sell many. That is a software company. I don’t mind the FDE building on a platform, but just the FDE building on someone else’s platform? Pass A fundable approach is to find a vertical with highly fragmented tool stack and build an intelligence layer or set of agents to do high value workflows specific to that industry. If that is what you are doing I want to hear from you. bit.ly/pitchIV

HOT TAKE : This will make cold email better and more powerful. If agents are deciding what's worth your time they're looking at the emails. An agent can respond and converse with potential offers, learn more, then decide on notifying you. As humans we don't do that because it's time consuming and distracting. Non issues with agents. Email as a channel will grow.
I think cold email is going to die. Every email inbox will have an agent gatekeeper soon, and the only way through will be a warm intro or being interesting enough that the agent decides you're worth its person's time.

I've found out how to use GitHub's stacked PRs... You build an entire project as a stack of PRs, maybe 10 PRs, maybe 2 months of work, but zero prod releases, just a stack. You test the tip, team tests, client can use it in staging. Once aligned, you don't merge the stack... You merge PRs one-by-one or in small batches, validating each has the effect you expect. Low risk, high visibility, 10x faster

My manifesto: Silicon Valley has lost its way. It used to be a place for people who wanted to make a dent in the world. Now, it's for people who want to partake in a well-orchestrated Ponzi scheme, one that gracefully yet unanimously rejects the 99% who don't come off as credentialed, nepo, autist, or narcissistic. MatCap brings balance back to the ecosystem by going back to our roots and surfacing the world's smartest, technical, inwardly ambitious, and independent-minded founders who want to solve important problems with great technology — similar to those who built the Silicon Valley we all benefit from today. (h/t @lulumeservey for the inspo)

I crave imposer syndrome. It tells me I'm in the right place. I want partners, teammates, clients, friends that are brilliant operators and visionaries and crushing it. Surround me with them. I'll gladly be the idiot in the room. Luckily I am. Anyone who knows me can attest.

The tango = do not die
We made all the possible mistakes as a company. But we haven't made the most important mistake. We haven't died. This is a slide from our deck from 2023. The only difference between us and those competitors now is that we're not dead. Nothing else matters.
