Professional golfer Grayson Murray died by suicide yesterday. He struggled with alcoholism and mental health issues for years. In January he won his second PGA Tour event, the Sony Open in Hawaii. During the press conference after the tournament, instead of letting him celebrate and asking him questions about golf, the media asked Grayson one question after another about his addiction and mental health struggles. Instead of getting offended or irritated, Grayson answered every question patiently and honestly. He was a fighter. Anyone struggling with the same type of issues and in need of encouragement should watch this video. Don't give up. Keep fighting.

Never once seen a golfer swing over the top doing this. Used it many times 👌🏻 Almost always goes behind and left though!
The best drill I’ve ever used to improve every aspect of a players swing The task here is to throw the club at the ground 10-12ft in front of the player It encourages better motion almost instantly I’ll be using it more in the future

BUT there may be many 8, 10 and 11 year olds who aspire to high performance. What do we do for them? As a psychologist, I suggest one can identify who will achieve later, albeit that their achievement may be in a different domain! This is somewhat more complex than many suggest
"There is no such thing as an elite 8-year-old, a high-performance 10-year-old, or a professional 11-year-old"

Innovation & vision, growing the game of golf 🤥 Embarrassing. No issue with taking the money, maybe I would do the same! But I would have far more respect for this guy is he was to say he’s doing it for the money 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just say it!!

Great listen Ian 👌🏻 Very insightful 🙏 I doubt a question you can answer! But I wonder if your findings would have differed if looking at LET players 🤔

It also comes from developing skills that lead to the outcome of resilience. Struggle in itself will not create resilience for everybody, for some it will 🤷🏻‍♂️
Resilience doesn’t come from success, it comes from the struggle. It comes from failing, getting knocked down, experiencing doubt. It comes from choosing to get up, to battle, to press on. Don’t avoid the struggle. Lean into it, learn from it, get better because of it. ⛈️🦬

A Dream Come True for Coach Lambray Caroline Lambray, a Certified @CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3), is the first female coach to lead an athlete to the title of Fittest on Earth. Moments after earning the title Fittest Man on Earth, Jeff Adler reflects on his journey with his coach and fiancee: “That’s why I’m here. There’s absolutely no other reason. She is the one that found me, trusted that we could work hard through the years and make it … .“

On the whole, this is very true! 🤔
3 good golfers all shoot 77 doing everything well apart from 1 area of the game Golfer 1; putts bad Golfer 2; drives it bad Golfer 3; approach play bad Why does golfer 1 believe they DESERVED a much better score? Golfers 2 & 3 generally more accepting of the scores here

To gain confidence
When do you find using isolated practice tasks/drills useful and why?

But doesn’t have to be that way. The entry level on our girls “pathway” is about bringing girls together to make friends and have new experiences. Increase confidence, motivation, etc, develop golf skills through games & have a ton of fun! And that’s made clear to stakeholders.
The #Pathway model killed #sport. It was originally a great idea but the way it's been introduced and implemented has resulted in parents, coaches, athletes and sports all having the expectation that every child can be / should be / wants to be a champion. That's the complete opposite of what sport's all about. Sports Thoughts #7: The Pathway Model Killed Sport youtu.be/nAytQI-MdvI via @YouTube
