Costs, corruption, and cruelty.
That’s what Democrats will be fighting relentlessly to fix on day one of our majority next year.

As the first Indian American woman to serve in Congress, Diwali has always been a very special holiday for me. It’s a moment to celebrate light over darkness, and love over hate. And at a moment where anti-Indian hate is on the rise and racist rhetoric is coming from the highest levels of government, we need this reminder more than ever.
This Diwali, let’s light our diyas for light to come into our homes and our country. Embrace each other, reject hate and division, surround yourselves with joy, and have a bright and meaningful festival of lights. Happy Diwali!
I am beyond disgusted by this vile and racist display. Diwali is an important holiday and our community should feel safe to celebrate it. This hateful display has no place in our city or this country.
HAPPENING NOW: Absolutely chaotic scene as conservative activists Jake Lang and Thomas Allen storm a Diwali Hindu celebration at the Seattle Center Armory.
They held signs that read, "Deport All Dot Heads" and "Stop Hindu Replacement of Christians."
I just spoke to both men who say they are concerned about American culture being overrun by false idol worshippers and H1-B fraudsters.
Lang and Allen say they will be targeting other locations in the city this weekend.
They have yet to announce details of their plans due to possible retaliation by Antifa and other far-left activists.

“Medicare for America,” or “Medicare for those who want it,” falls short of covering all Americans and reducing healthcare costs.
Medicare for All is the ONLY legislation that guarantees healthcare from birth till death.
I was proud to help secure the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant for SDOT to enhance safety for pedestrians, bikers, and drivers in high-risk areas across our city.
I look forward to securing more federal dollars for projects like these in the majority next year!

Tuesday’s results showed that despite the flood of dark money and attacks, progressive values won.
Universal healthcare and childcare, getting money out of politics, and lowering costs for Americans aren’t fringe ideas. These are incredibly popular, and it’s time to get it done.
Democrats must immediately reverse the Republican Medicaid Cuts and expand the ACA subsidies.
But we must also push for a bigger fix to our broken healthcare system. The solution is Medicare for All.

Statement on Stephen Miller’s Appointment to White House Chief of Staff:
Trump’s naming of Stephen Miller to be Chief of Staff is a giant middle finger to every single voter who came out to the polls and demanded a change from the corruption and cruelty of the last two years.
Stephen Miller is the architect of Project 2025, which included the push for ‘unitary executive power’ that Trump used to enrich himself and his billionaire buddies, enabled the failed efforts of Elon Musk and DOGE, the stripping of healthcare from millions of people, and the mass deportation agenda that led to ICE and CBP killing people in the streets, separating families, locking up kids and gutting the legal immigration system.
At a time when voters clearly spoke out against the war in Iran and the rising prices of gas and groceries, Trump responded by doubling down and appointing his biggest enabler of unpopular and illegal policies. Clearly, he learned absolutely nothing from the unprecedented sweep of elections across the country.
Democrats are taking control of the House and the Senate, and we intend to end this war, improve the ability of every family to afford a dignified life with universal childcare and healthcare, and real accountability for the corruption that Stephen Miller and Trump profited from. Trump’s appointment of Stephen Miller tells the American people everything they need to know about whose side he is on: his own.
Healthcare as a human right is a winning message and overwhelmingly popular policy.
The ONLY real legislation on the books to effectively achieve this is my bill, Medicare for All. It’s time for Democrats to unify behind our own healthcare proposal. This is the way.
Harmeet Dhillon made a mockery of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division by attacking diversity, equity, and inclusion and bullying states into disenfranchising voters.

The Seattle Times Editorial Board is right.
Democrats must conduct the necessary hearings and investigations where accountability is due.
And we must also stay focused on stopping corruption, bringing down healthcare costs, and delivering on the populist change that we won on.

Here are some of my takeaways and how Democrats plan to change the trajectory of this country come January.
Stopping the Iran War. Regulating AI. Expanding Healthcare. Raising Wages.
Progressives were the first to stake out these positions, and they've now become the baseline for Democrats.
In the majority, we must push forward a bold Democratic agenda that Americans elected us for.

You don’t have to describe yourself as a “progressive” to be ready to deliver for working people.
What matters is that progressive ideas have become mainstream — stopping the Iran War, taking on corruption, getting universal healthcare. It’s now on us to deliver.
