Manchester United fans defiant. Manchester United players defeatist. One day, United players will take responsibility, and will play with the commitment of their fans. Carlos Baleba, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez failed to react for Chelsea’s first. Martinez so unprofessional for Chelsea’s second goal, elbow, second yellow, pen, shocking behaviour. Michael Carrick has his flaws but he’s been let down by his players. United fans have been let down by their players. United can change the head coach but they have to change many of the players, recruiting stronger characters. Players who take responsibility, who care for the club. #CHEMUN #MUFC

🚨Wayne Rooney reacts to Manchester United’s humiliating 3–0 defeat to Bournemouth: 🗣️Rooney: “I watched that and felt sick. A group of players who looked like they couldn’t be bothered, a team with no identity, no fight and no idea what they’re supposed to be, and a club that has spent over a decade actively destroying everything that made it special. That’s what this 3–0 humiliation at home to Bournemouth actually was. I feel for Michael. I really do. Deep down he knows this is probably the end for him. You can see it in his face. He’s a good lad, a proper United man, and he’s been handed a squad that doesn’t have the character or the quality to compete. But let’s stop pretending he’s the problem. He isn’t. Manchester United’s crisis starts right at the top — with the people who keep making the same catastrophic decisions, the same disastrous recruitment, the same lack of any clear direction year after year. This club has been in institutional decline since Sir Alex left, and every new manager is just another scapegoat for the people who actually run the place. Look at that performance today. From the first whistle there was no urgency. Bournemouth scored from a set piece because half the team switched off. Then Yoro slips over in his own box and they walk it in. Then the goalkeeper comes charging out and gets done from a ridiculous angle. That’s not tactics. That’s a team that has no defensive organisation, no concentration, and no pride. When things go wrong, there is zero response. No leaders. No one grabbing the game. Just players standing around looking sorry for themselves while the fans who pay their wages are left embarrassed. And this squad… some of these players are among the most embarrassing I’ve ever seen wear that shirt. The mentality is soft. The quality in big moments is nowhere near the standard this club used to demand. The character is missing. They care more about themselves than the badge. You saw it with the comments this week. They throw their toys out of the pram the second they’re criticised and then put in a performance like this. It’s pathetic. People will scream for Carrick to be sacked. Fine. Do it. But don’t kid yourselves it changes anything. You could appoint the best manager in world football tomorrow morning and this club would still be a mess. Because the problems run far deeper than tactics or formations. The structure is broken. The recruitment is broken. The standards are gone. The accountability is non-existent. The same cycle of failure repeats every single season while the people at the top hide behind the next manager they can hang out to dry. This club has lost its identity. It used to be about winning, about standards, about never accepting second best. Now it’s about excuses, soft players, and a revolving door of managers who get blamed for a mess they didn’t create. Supporters are being forced to watch the same collapse over and over again, and it’s painful because we all remember what this club used to be. Until the people running Manchester United finally look in the mirror and accept responsibility for the mess they’ve created, the suffering will continue. No matter who is standing on the touchline.

Michael Carrick will doubtless pay the price with his job for this deserved defeat to an excellent Bournemouth side and another lifeless display by his Manchester United team. Some of his selections and tactics have been questionable, United were again so open in the centre. But Carrick was not responsible for recruiting Youri Tielemans, who lacks physicality and mobility (and Aston Villa haven’t missed him) and Andrey Santos, a Chelsea reserve.  Carrick was not responsible for the board’s damaging failure to strengthen at centre-back and left-back. Carrick was not responsible for his main striker Benjamin Sesko being injured and the board’s failure to provide him with cover. Carrick was not responsible for the club he loves being in the grip of co-owners like the Glazers whose priorities are focused more on business than the sport. The direction from the top has been negligible, arguably negligent. No real leadership. No expertise. Carrick may be out of his depth but many United fans sang his name during the painful demise to Bournemouth because they know he cares and they know the problems lie elsewhere. The Stretford End again sang in protest at the wretched Glazers. Noticeable that there were few songs in support of Bruno Fernandes. He is supposed to be captain, rallying the players, Footballer of the Year, Player of the Year, not arm-waver of the year, underachieving and complaining. Yet Bruno will be at United longer than Carrick.  Carrick was praised for United finishing third last season and getting in the Champions League. But he will doubtless go partly for his own failings and mainly the failings of others. And United will be trapped in this doom loop again. And again until the core problems are addressed in the boardroom - and the Glazers sell up - and flaws in the recruitment department. #MUFC #MUNBOU

By surrendering the sovereign, democratic nation of Ukraine to Vladimir Putin — and granting a ruthless dictator total impunity to slaughter innocent men, women, and children — Trump has fundamentally corrupted the Republican Party, twisting it into a treasonous instrument of authoritarian tyranny. It is an absolute betrayal of everything the party once stood for; any other GOP-led Congress in American history would have already drafted articles of impeachment to answer for such a catastrophic surrender of democratic values.

This is economic illiteracy of a high order. After separation Scotland would still use sterling. So it would have to borrow in £s to cover its massive budget deficit and promise lenders it would pay back in £s (or they won’t lend). But after an unspecified transition it would move to a Scottish currency. But all the borrowing done during the transition would have to be paid back in sterling. If the Scottish currency plummeted v sterling (likely given the size of the deficit, lack of credit track record etc) that could become an unmanageable burden given the likely poor exchange rate. Scotland would have to borrow billions in its own currency just to convert to sterling to pay back lenders. Devaluing the Scottish currency further. What a shambles that would be. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
Swinney says an "independent" Scotland would convert to a Scots currency 🤣🤡

Kemi Badenoch is right to set out clearly what Conservatism should mean. Wealth must be created before it can be distributed. Freedom comes with responsibility. Our laws and borders must mean something. Government must be judged by what it delivers, not what it promises. We need a strong state where it matters, on defence, our borders and law & order, but a state that gets out of the way of individuals, families and businesses.

There’s not much to be said for almost 30 years of devolution but it has allowed for a massive real-time experiment in school systems. Starting with Thatcher, continued by Major, Blair and Brown, given huge boost under Cameron-Gove-Gibb, English schools saw major reforms — academies, free schools etc. Scottish schools stayed totally comprehensive under the dead hand of socialism/nationalism. No variety in state system. But lots more money. Ditto Welsh schools. Results are in and they couldn’t be clearer — English state schools have powered ahead, Scottish and Welsh schools have fallen back into mediocrity or worse. Scottish/Welsh pols too blinkered to learn the lessons so more decline beckons. What is unforgivable is that the current Labour government under two appalling education secretaries — Lucy Powell and Bridget Phillipson — want to roll back all the progress that’s been made in England to appease the hard-left teaching unions and the left-wing Blob.
Breaking. PISA results for 2025 show Scottish pupils are more than a year behind their English peers for maths and science. Also behind on reading. (20 points is equivalent of a year of schooling) 1/4

Children in England are in the top ten in the world for reading, maths and science. That’s thanks to Conservative reforms that prioritised high standards in education and pushed children to achieve their potential. Labour, in contrast, are driving through reforms that will water down standards and write off some of the most disadvantaged children in our country. We have only to look at Scotland and Wales for a sign of what’s to come. The SNP and Labour Governments there rejected the Conservatives’ changes, staying wedded to the bigotry of low expectations, and led to much worse outcomes for children. Education Secretary Lucy Powell says we have an "over focus on academic outcomes". But that focus is what has delivered for our children. And the Conservatives will restore it.
Conservative reforms put English pupils in the world’s top ten for reading, maths and science. Scotland and Wales, without those reforms, have fallen behind. Now Labour wants to abandon the focus on academic standards that delivered those results in England. Madness.

Amnesty International has truly lost the plot. It is promoting a so-called “Arday's law” which would to impose state-mandated limits on press coverage of one person. No doubt thru an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’ Truly totalitarian. Defund @AmnestyUK.

Jason Arday was both the beneficiary of DEI - but now sadly also the victim. No one cared about Jason Arday as a person - he was just their diversity poster boy, they fed into his delusions until it all came crashing down, because the fact he was black was more important than anything else This is why we must end DEI

Jason Arday rose to one of Britain’s most prestigious universities on a personal story that was only recently exposed as a lie. I don’t particularly belong to any wing. And one doesn’t need to be to understand what failed him. An ideology told a young man that lies could provide a shortcut. An ideology led institutions such as Cambridge University to accept those lies without any scrutiny. An ideology encouraged its believers to celebrate and reinforce what should instead have been questioned. That ideology is wokeism. We do not yet know what caused Jason Arday’s death, and nobody should pretend otherwise. But the institutional and cultural failure around him is impossible to ignore. Our society should learn from it. Ideology is never truth.

Uncomfortable, grim and awful news about Jason Arday. Cambridge University have questions to ask about their responsibilities for over-promoting DEI, built him up and put him in his position based on lies. Not the people who revealed his web of lies. This needs saying.

I’ve written to the people of Clacton because they don’t deserve to be used by Nigel Farage to distract from his £5mn problems. This by-election is fake and he knows it. He disrespects his own constituents, demanding they exonerate him before the facts have been established👇

Perhaps the most disturbing element in the fantasy world of (ex)-Professor Jason Arday is not his proclivity to embellish his achievements (or lack thereof) in absurd ways that were easily exposed or Cambridge University’s facile complicity in his whole scam but that a reporter at Times Higher Education, who was looking into anomalies in Mr Arday’s dodgy CV, was subjected to a four-month police investigation for allegedly harassing him. The police need to be held to account for this abuse of police power to thwart a journalist from doing his job.

This guy is mad, his party and the Green nutters have been against anything to do with the North Sea and he has the cheek to blame the UK Government.

Nauseating hypocrisy. You and your party’s green mongering over the years have driven BP and others away. You gave virtue signalling priority over jobs, families, communities. And now you express concern for them. Pass the sick bag. Scotland is truly run by a kakistocracy. But Scots only have themselves to blame. They keep electing self-serving numpties.
🧵 1/ BP’s decision to sell its North Sea business marks a time of real uncertainty for workers, their families and communities across the North East. The skills and experience of this workforce are vital to Scotland’s future prosperity and our energy security.

The SNP runs into the Laffer Curve: its 48% top rate of income tax (NICs on top) results in £22m LESS in tax revenues. Don’t they teach economics in the land of Adam Smith any more? Or does left-wing virtue signalling — I’m ‘taxing the rich’ more than you — trump everything?

Now that @Keir_Starmer has finally resigned, everyone is going to start saying nice things about him. About how he was honourable and did the right thing etc, with talk of his legacy and sense of duty to public service. It will all be nonsense. He wasn't up to the job and he thinks he's been betrayed by his own party and his own voters. And never forget that he despises most of the people in this country just for being patriots and wanting strong borders. Good riddance.
