Orwellian: Hamas says it will commit genocide, then commits genocidal acts on Oct 7, Israel responds to prevent it from continuing, Hamas openly says it will do more genocide, South African government takes Israel (not Hamas) to International Court of Justice for 'genocide'.

It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible. ustr.gov/about/policy-office…

Wikipedia may be the Web's greatest accomplishment, but it is not infallible, and in several hot-button issues, it has been captured by activists. One of the most egregious is its rewriting of "Zionism" after 10/7: quillette.substack.com/p/how…

South African pilot Rowan Tooth was one of the relief pilots who helped regain control of flydubai FZ1073, after the co-pilot’s attack, and land it safely. The UAE has now awarded the crew the First Class Order of Zayed II for their actions. Proud moment for SA aviation.

One of the largest countries on earth has an election that ends with the losing candidate fleeing the country and his party leaders arrested. Nobody cares. A much smaller country has an election a few days later that is run more or less flawlessly, ends in deadlock, and suddenly there are a billion experts on its politics weighing in as if the world’s future depends on it. Something is deeply wrong.

Wow. No skaam. You know the DA paid for that transformer and arranged for Eskom to install it. You rush up the next day and claim credit.

The post attributes the Snake Park transformer replacement to the Gauteng government, but images show DA flags beside the blue transformer and accounts credit Helen Zille with funding its purchase. x.com/NicholasNyati/… x.com/zekewareley/st…

To everyone peddling the “Israel apartheid” lie, I have shocking (and inconvenient) news for you. Arab Israelis turned out to vote in extraordinary numbers today. Exit polls give Arab-led parties 16–18 seats in Israel's parliament. For comparison, Netanyahu's Likud is projected to win around 25 seats. For those still howling “apartheid,” let this sink in: 1️⃣ Arab citizens voted 2️⃣ There are Arab political parties 3️⃣ Arab leaders could play a decisive role in determining who forms Israel's next government

South African born Aviva Siegel was held hostage in Gaza for 51 days. Her husband Keith for 484 days. To see them together, free and voting today is profoundly moving.
I love this photo of Keith and Aviva Siegel voting. שהחיינו והגיענו

Today, two million Arabs had the right to vote in a free and fair election in the Middle East. In a region where that freedom is nonexistent, only one country guarantees it: Israel.

Oscar-winning ex-BBC producer Lucie Kon reveals horrific antisemitic treatment. Right after October 7 a BBC colleague said “Zionists are evil” and if she wanted to call the massacre an act of terror then Israel must be labelled a ‘terror State’. This is still going on. Shameful.

In my latest column, I discuss the potential expulsion of Mark Oppenheimer from UCT Council for raising the alarm about antisemitism at the university: "Oppenheimer has a thick skin, and is prepared to fight his corner, but his rights to free expression matter just as much as everyone else’s. I am therefore proud to stand by Mark’s side as he has done for so many others." I am facing suspension from the Council for supporting Mark. Read the article linked below and let me know if you think these sanctions are justified.
