Been keeping an eye on #Myanmar recently. Made a "simplified" view of the conflict. Red: Junta + allies (Tatmadaw, PNA, ZRA, NDA-K, KNA) Green: anti-Junta forces (PDF, KIA, AA, MNDAA, TNLA, CNF, CBA, KNLA, KNDF, KA, KNPLF, PNLA) Purple: neutral (RCSS, SSPP, UWSA, NDAA, MNLA)

In the last 12 months, the momentum of the Myanmar Civil War has switched in favor of the Junta, launching counteroffensives along several fronts. Below are maps of the recent Junta gains in Northern Shan/Mandalay/Sagaing, Karenni, Chin, & Karen regions.

Given recent events in Syria, research on the Angolan Civil War was halted. I was hoping to restart my work, but I am at a crossroads. I should go back to mapping Angola, but I am tempted to map the entire Syrian Civil War (2011-2024) in the same format as my recent map below.

Couldn't help myself. Started working backwards on mapping the Syrian Civil War. Will upload them to Wikipedia & @Soar_Earth once I proof read them and make sure there are no errors. Not sure whether to stop here or keep mapping the war pre-December 2016.

🇸🇴 #Somalia Offensive | August 2022 August saw the start of the large-scale Somali offensive against #Alshabab, led by army units (#SNA) and allied militias. Most of the advances happened in the Hiran region. Thanks to @criticalthreats for documenting this conflict.

🇸🇴 #Somalia Offensive | July 2023 July saw SNA clearing out Al-Shabaab hideouts near #Galcad, #BudBud, and #Afmadow. Clashes also happened outside of #Baidoa where Al-Shabaab sieged the city, later lifted after local leaders negotiated a deal.
