It's been five years since I began writing ITSOAS, and today I'm finally able to share it with the world. ๐ŸŒค๏ธ In The Shadow of A Sunbeam is a pro-life contemporary Christian novel about heavy topics like divorce, abuse, and hope in the darkest shadow. amazon.com/Shadow-Sunbeam-Raโ€ฆ

Shocking - New Liberal MAID bill would allow MAID/euthanasia to be administered in certain circumstances WITHOUT informing the patient of what is about to happen. If someone signs an advance request, the practitioner would NOT be required to even talk to them before ending their life.

I have made a compromise. I'm listening to the song WHILE editing. It does not match the scene at ALL. ๐Ÿคฃ
Not me motivating myself to write, by telling myself that if I want to listen to my hyperfixation song again, I have to take a break and do some editing first. ๐Ÿคฃ

I stumbled across a post by someone who generates their books with AI and they were asking why it's so wrong when they still come up with the ideas and basically still edit and direct the story. And I was going to reply the usual, that AI steals words, sometime verbatim, from books whose authors never consented to their work being scraped. And while that's a really good moral reason to avoid it, I think the better reason is simply that you are cheating yourself. We all started in a place where we have ideas we aren't capable of creating yet. (This goes for artists too). Figuring out how to do those ideas justice is the entire point. Forging a tapestry, word by word. Getting better with every new story. Learning from those who came before us. The act of writing IS the joy. The end result is the icing.

If I have 1 more subscriber to my newsletter, I'll reach a personal goal! In December you'll be able to read a short and sweet Novella that is a mix of Beauty and the Beast and Jane Eyre, set in the Regency Era. Right now, there is a flash fiction piece (@WriteforLife6 's flash fiction winning story!) or a historical romance rec list available for f r e e when you sign up! (and at least one of these may drop when I upload Ashes to Beauty) Check out the comments for ๐Ÿ”—

This was a trend over on another platform, but it was fun enough I wanted to share it here too One of those moments where yes, I am the author, but I am on the edge of my seat, my jaw is on the FLOOR

Did you know that OCD comes in many subtypes? Contamination & symmetry are the most familiar ones, but others involve fears of harming oneself or others, or taboo thoughts. A person with OCD can experience multiple of these (for me, it's several on the graphic below) #OCDWeek

If you took time this #OCDWeek to learn about OCD or spread awareness, thank you! One of the first things I ever wanted to do with this account was share what I know so one day everyone would understand what it is & how to get help And since I have OCD, if you want you can AMA!

In honor of my sister being a numbers girl, here are some stats about OCD. Do any of these surprise you? The last one in particular is something I'd like to see change. Could you wait 14-17 YEARS to get help for something that seriously reduces your quality of life? #OCDWeek

Equally important to knowing what OCD is, is knowing what it is *not*. The complete lack of knowledge (& often compassion) I've seen here is discouraging OCD isn't a joke, a superpower, being a "neat freak", or a sin. It's a serious mental illness that can be treated! #OCDWeek

Amazing Grace is criminally underrated.
Question: What are some of the best religious films? Can include films about religious figures, films featuring members of religious organizations, films with strong religious themes, etc.

As someone who knows and loves many people who struggle(d) with mental illness and experienced suicidal ideation, I cannot adequately express how vile this is. Legalizing state-administered suicide for the most vulnerable would cost us thousands of lives, and every family in the country would be impacted. For the millions of Canadians who have desperately sought to do everything in their power to persuade their loved ones to stay and not to go, this is the ultimate, cruel, slap in the face.

Watching Mark Carney vote against Bill C-218 to ban euthanasia for mental illness just now so the Liberals can put forward a bill that includes advanced directives for people with dementia is just disgusting.

This is a qualified victory, but a real one. If assisted suicide had been expanded to the mentally ill, thousands of people struggling with depression, anxiety, and scores of other conditions would have qualified for a lethal injection--and taken it. As someone who knows and loves many people who struggle with mental illness and would have qualified, I am very grateful. The fight to protect Canada's vulnerable continues.
Sean Fraser @SeanFraserMP has announced that Canada will scrap the expansion of MAiD for mental illness BUT will legalise โ€œadvance directivesโ€ for MAiD.
